5.0 out of 5 stars Don't tell Anyone-Peg Kehret, April 26, 2003

This was a good adventure book. I think it's great for kids of all ages.

Megan is 12 years old. She finds feral cats in a field, one pregnant. One day she witnesses a fatal car crash. The other story that connects is of a man named Shane, a criminal who wants to escape. When Megan interfers with his plan he goes at lengths to get her out of the way.

This is a great book that will keep you reading to the end.

Don't Tell Anyone by Peg Kehret

Dutton's Children's Books - New York

Imagine yourself in the position of being responsible of frequent, pleasant, and disappointing situations. Imagine how hard it is to stick up for your community, nature, and even criminals. Megan Perk, lived life like any ordinary kid, until she discovered a variety of cats that needed her help.

This was where everything went wrong. After her discovery of the cats, Megan wanted to obviously help them, so every morning; she would visit them and feed them cat food. The only thing that Megan didn't know was that the field was soon going to be bulldozed and would be constructed into an apartment area, and she didn't want the cats to be bulldozed either. This was also the field that Megan witnessed a car crash that gradually turned into a hit and run murder trial making it even more difficult and insecure for her to visit. Knowing about the murder trial and sticking up also made Megan more courageous and responsible.

When the construction workers started working on the field, Megan started complaining to stop the bulldozing and help the cats although she knew not the talk to strangers. Unfortunately, the person that she was talking to was pretending to be the boss of the company, known as Brice Colby, and pretending to help the cats in which Megan didn't know. This person was faking to be the boss because he didn't want the others to know about saving the cats, to make Megan disappointed and more stressed. A few days later when Megan was casually feeding the cats, she discovered a threatening note saying, "If you want the cats to live, then don't tell anyone." This note left Megan with another situation and concern.

When Megan encountered the fake Brice again at a balloon festival, she talked about the note to him, this filled him with anger because he wrote the note. His punishment was unpredictable to Megan that kept me on the edge of my seat Horror filled my mind and pity for the little girl. Megan returned safe, and learned never to talk to anyone she didn't know. The cats were given shots and adopted into nice, warm, healthy homes. As usual, most stories end happy, which I like, but I didn't like how Peg Kehret did not conclude what happened to Shane (the fake Brice) what happened to the person in the car accident, and the criminal who hit the car.

Don't Tell Anyone is a very fascinating book that you cannot put down. It is a simple book to read, and if you admire mysteries, then this is the perfect book for you. Fifth to seventh graders should have no problem reading this; and lastly, you'll love it!

In this book there is really nothing that I hate. I can't really talk bad about it. To a person who likes to actually read I personally think that you would not find anything wrong with this book. It has conflicts, dialogue, action, it has everything. So the least thing I can say is ENJOY.
This truly is one of very many good books!.
