3.0 out of 5 stars Don't Ever Tell Madonna To Stop!! Not Too Bad Remixes
Well, this song tells that Madonna probably won't ever stop. She's a workaholic person and probably won't retire till she's 100 LOL. I think that is the message of this song when she says "please dont tell me to stop". I like the video too where she walking in the desert and throws sand on herself. WE next see Madonna dress up as a cowgirl with other cowboys doing some...

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't Tell Me, But I'll Tell You The Truth!!!, January 20, 2001
This review is from: Don't Tell Me (Audio CD)
When I purchased Madonna's CD "MUSIC" I thought that there were better songs with more potential than this one. To be truthfull I wasn't feelin' this song what so even, and especially the beat. However, I am the biggest remix fanatic and these remixes took me by surprise giving me new hope and meaning to the song. I trully believe that the remixes sound better than the original version, but what does my opinion mean anyways.

Track Listing:

1.) Don't Tell Me (Timo Maas Mix) 6:56 = The beat to this remix more than exceptable compared to the original version of this song. I'm really feelin' this remix along with the rest of them. The beat to this song is pretty unique so I can't describe it much. Although I can mention that this song as a fabulous outro.

2.) Don't Tell Me (Tracy Young Club Mix) 11:00 = Now this remix has a real funky beat that will automatically take you by surprise. This remix is by far one of my favorite's. This remix even contains some of the original beats to it.

3.) Don't Tell Me (Vission Remix) 7:52 = This remix has a sort of dark jungle vibe to it. This remix along with a few others on this single feature an extra lyric that really spices up the song. The lyric isn't to big or memorizing but it is (GET UP... GET DOWN)

4.) Don't Tell Me (Thunderpuss' 2001 Hands In The Air Anthem) 10:20 = This remix was created by one of my favorite remixes so I can't hate on it, not that I wanted to in the first place. This remix is great! This remix has a few latin flares in the beat that spices the song up. This remix features an extra lyric that seams to be "SAY MY NAME"

5.) Don't Tell Me (Victor Calderone Sensort Mix) 6:48 = This remix starts out with a slow funky beat that indicates to you that it is going to pick up. I find this remix incredible, and the echo effects to Madonna's voice fits in great with the beat.

6.) Don't Tell Me (Vission Radio Mix) 3:48 = Now this remix is just "Get Up" off your seat! This remix is one of the Heart takers on the single. This remix doesn't hesitate to bring in the vocals emidiately. They also do some funky voice machanics to Madonna's voice that is just wild.

7.) Don't Tell Me (Thunderpuss' 2001 Hands In The Air Radio) 4:26 = This is basically a radio edit of track 4 which I prefere more since it is sorter. Sort is my taste if you feelin' the lond on than go for it.

This maxi single has 7 remixes on it, now can you deny those worth wild remixes? I have been getting all my friends into remixes and you peeps need to get into them to and this is the perfect maxi single to start with. Buy this single, it has more than one interests that you'll be feelin' on here.

5.0 out of 5 stars Greatest Madonna Maxi-Single EVER!, February 18, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Don't Tell Me (Audio CD)
This is by far Madonna's greatest Maxi-Single ever released in the US. First of all it has seven, count them, 7 great remixes on it. Second it has the "Don't Tell Me" video on the CD which is one of Madonna's best videos ever. Third it comes in a gorgeous standard jewel case, unlike most of her recent maxi-singles which have come in ugly and annoying ecopacks. Fourth it even has the lyrics of the song and a cool yellow horseshoe CD design. Of course the layout wouldn't mean anything if the remixes weren't good. Amazingly all of them are good! My favorite is the Vission Radio Mix which has eccentric sounds and a great beat that refreshes the vocals. The Victor Caledrone Sensory Mix and the Timo Maas Mix are also great and don't sound like most dance remixes do. The Thunderpuss 2001 Hands in the Air Anthem and the Tracy Young Club Mix are more traditional club mixes that are great to dance and groove to. I don't think there is a single track on this record that I didn't like. If you like this song and good remixes you should definetly buy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Oh, allow me to tell you..., February 1, 2001

"Don't Tell Me" is my favorite single released from "Music". I could not wait for the release of the maxi-single, so I could jam out to the remixes. I will have to say that these are some of the best remixes that I have heard in a long time. Every time I tend to purchase a maxi-single, all the remixes sound the same. This one is completely different. Every remix sounds as though you are listening to a complete new song.

4.0 out of 5 stars Tell Me More..., January 19, 2001

This review is from: Don't Tell Me (Audio CD)
Well this is certainly the most comprehensive Madonna maxi-single ever. It comes in a standard jewel-case (the last time a Madonna Cd-maxi came in a jewel case was Hanky Panky in 1990), has a lyric sheet enclosed and most of all an enhanced video multimedia portion of the song. 7 remixes are found on this CD. The Timo Mass mix is very Euro in flavor with great energy. The Tracy Young Mix makes you of the synthesized voice in the original song for the remix. Vission Mix & Radio Mix sounds almost like what he did with American Pie except this is more erratic, a departure from the original tune. The Thunderpuss Hands Up In The Air Anthem & Radio are the most club friendly versions and these 2 are different from the Thunderpuss Club Mix on the European Cd single. The strange surprise must come from Victor Calderone whose use of drums in remixes are sometimes a major bore, but this time round, he opted for a more trippy few, keeping the song in tempo wih the original and the feel is almost like the Sasha remix of ROL. Overall, it's 51 minutes of dancefloor action for a cool song from Music. The suerpb album versio is on the regular CD single.

Finally, the remixes for 'Don't Tell Me' come out in the US. Unfortunately, the best mix of the song was left off the domestic single -- the original Thunderpuss Club Mix (still found on import). The Thunderpuss Hands In The Air Anthem is good -- more clubby for sure -- but it's just not quite as fun as the first one (rumored to be Madonna's favorite). Otherwise, the Tima Maas mix has a nice progressive edge, and the Tracy Young mix, with guitars(!), is a winner. The biggest surprise, though, is Victor Calderone's trippy mix -- for once, not his signature hard sound. (Instead it sounds like a William Orbit mix -- more 'Ray of Light' than 'Music'. But at least he's trying something new, for a change.)

The disc also includes the video, which is one of her best -- and for Madonna, that's really saying something.

5.0 out of 5 stars CD COMES WITH THE BEST MUSIC VIDEO MADONNA HAS EVER DONE, June 12, 2001

Hi. I gave this single 5 stars, not for the remixes, but for the wonderful music video that comes with it. When she came out with the song I was disapoineted that the video didn't come out on dvd like "Music" or "What it feels like for a girl", but when I slid the cd into my computer (to play the songs) I was pleasently suprised to see the music video pop up! It is so cool to watch madonna dance around in the sand with her cow-girl hat on and cow-boy boots. This is one of her best songs and in my opinion it is her best video. When you put it in your computer it comes up just as clear as a DVD would be. It comes in as a full screen!!!! As far as the remixes go, they are are pretty good. I prefer the original version, but when I found out this cool music video was on the compact disk, I bought it on the spot! You better add this to your wish list... FAST!

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't Ever Tell Her To Stop . . ., January 22, 2001
This review is from: Don't Tell Me (Audio CD)
Madonna's newest single, Don't Tell Me is one of my favorite Madonna singles in recent memory. Though, there are a lot of really great remixes on this CD, The 'Timo Maas' remix is my favorite. I'm also happy that Madonna is finally starting to take advantage of the latest technology, and put her videos on an enhanced portion of this Disc so that we can all enjoy it on our computers at home. I would recommend this CD to anybody that likes Madonna or even anybody that just loves a good CD to jam too!

4.0 out of 5 stars Timo Mass rocks., September 29, 2006
This review is from: Don't Tell Me (Audio CD)
Personaly, I never really liked this song, but being a Madonna fan,I bought the cd single regardless.
Im glad that I did, as there is an absolutely brilliant remix of the song on it by Timmo Maas.
This is the version of the song I prefer to listen to.
Well worth buying just for Timo"s remix.

5.0 out of 5 stars Madonna Continues to RAWK!, July 3, 2006

Okay, I'm not the biggest fan of Madonna's "Music" album. It always seemed to me a throwaway work - songs left over from the "Ray of Light" sessions or even worse, garbage thrown out from the Bedtime Stories album. But "Music" does have some bright spots. One of them is the song "Don't Tell Me". The song's funky-country-folk-rock vibe is great. The single MAXI-single keeps the song on it's toes with great mixes and some fun "Enhanced CD" features, which has the video of the song, playable on most computers. Completely worth buying, even for the non-HUGE Madonna fan.
