1.0 out of 5 stars No Diamonds....Just Rough, January 20, 2006
This review is from: Don't Touch If You Ain't Prayed (DVD)
This movie was so horrible I don't know where to start. Maybe I could start with the fact the actors were so horrible it was as if the director picked them randomly off the street. Or maybe he just casted his own family...at any rate they were untrained and stale. Secondly, I had a serious issue with this movie not following basic christian principles. If Tyler Perry manages to tone down the swearing in his semi-christian plays, why wouldn't this movie director have enough sense to follow suit...If you're trying to actually sale to a christian audience. Furthermore, I thought the bible said a little something against divorce; like it wasn't permitted unless your spouse commits adultery/fornication. This movie seems to say it's okay to go against the word of God if you're in love. In fact, christianity was more of a theory in this movie than it was a practice....by even the protagonist! I laugh as I think of the scene where Ce-Ce Peniston's character says seductively, "I'm looking for a man with his mind on Jesus" Yet she's dressed like a hooker. Speaking of clothing, why did Ce-Ce seem to change outfits even in the middle of scene. They go on a date and she's dressed one way, by the time they come home she has on something different; with no logical explanation. And please explain why they had someone's grandfather playing the role of Rico Suave. Maybe the movie would have actually been worth while had he looked more like the man of any woman's dream. I felt more like telling him about AARP than I did falling in love with him. In addition, the soundtrack, IT-WAS-JUST-ANNOYING. At some parts it was even hard to hear what the characters were saying because of the music. I just wanted the maddness to stop! Lastly, It seems as if the director tried to portray single church women as being overwhelmingly desperate (although some are) However, having pamela fall so quickly for bryant was just, well, almost juvenile...perhaps even a disrespect to women at large. Overall, this movie made me want to puke. PASTOR Larry "Flash" Jenkins really needs to get some true insight on the conditions of the church and maybe even go back and read the bible for himself for clarity.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible Movie, July 6, 2006

From start to finish a total waste of time. I viewed this movie with some of the single women from my church including a recently married woman, we were all appalled at how desparate this "Pamela" was note to the director not all women waiting on God are that desparate. The so called Christian principals in this movie were laughable. At the end of the movie I found myself apologizing to my guests for wasting their time.

3.0 out of 5 stars this story needs work, but can be used as a teaching tool, February 12, 2007
This review is from: Don't Touch If You Ain't Prayed (DVD)
I viewed this film with my husband and a Christian friend. We kept stopping the film and discussing various scenes. I am not certain what the director had in mind. There were a number of things wrong regarding Christian behavior and mindsets. The leading lady is looking for a Christian husband, and along the journey, she seeks advice from two coworkers who are clearly entrenched in worldly values--a young promiscuous woman and a gay man. Pamela's appearance is that of a worldly woman who is trying to attract men by the way she dresses and walks. (In one scene, she is stating to Jordan that she wants a man who loves Jesus, but she's wearing a tight, green shirt with her cleavage all in his face). Pamela's parents' behavior and speech do not ring true for a couple who are suppose to be Christians. The grandfather was a buffoon, and this character could have been omitted from the story. The icing on the cake is the pastor clearly giving Pamela the wrong advice, and then giving out the same jacked-up advice to Jordan, basically telling them that as long as they feel it's true love, it's okay. What about Jordan's wife, a tragic alcoholic who was clearly crying out for love and attention? A true Christian--whether a pastor, friend, teacher, etc.--would have advised Pamela and Jordan to end the relationship. I plan to use this film as a teaching tool for young Christian women--it is an example of what Christian behavior is not, and should encourage an in-depth discussion on correct Christian behavior and relationships as given in the Bible--not according to what man says.

1.0 out of 5 stars Awful!!!!!!!!, December 15, 2007

I Was very disappointed in this film. The acting was horrible. The filming was horrible. The story line was a complete mess. Cece should of ran from this man.
If you have daughter(s) who are dating married men...you do not want them to see this movie. It shows a religious woman who finds out she is dating a married man, and in the end... gets the man and they live happily ever after.
I watched this movies a group of my friends and every body was disappointed.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not recommended, September 26, 2007
This review is from: Don't Touch If You Ain't Prayed (DVD)
This film was the worst. The woman fell in love with a married man who threw away his alcoholic wife for her. The woman was played by CeCe Penaston. You see, the video was so bad, I can't even remember the character's name she portrayed in the film.
The grandfather was so stupid. He should have had some sense, instead he played the family's fool. The film had too much cursing, and sexual references.
This video is not recommended for the entire family, nor will it draw a sinner to Christ; it will only give the sinner cause to say "Christians are all a bunch of hypocrites."

1.0 out of 5 stars Do NOT waste your money!!!, December 29, 2010

This review is from: Don't Touch If You Ain't Prayed (DVD)
This movie was so awful that I threw it away! There are NO Christian values in this movie. This movie is about a lazy good for nothing woman who does not do her work and cheats the company by which she is employed. She spends her time wallowing about not having a man in her life, looking at men on the internet while she is at "work". A Christian would not cheat her employer by not doing her job! A Christian would not look at men online! The heroine is shallow and displays poor character, lust, laziness, selfishness, and dishonesty. If she wants a Godly man then she would NEVER look to the online mating services; the swine available on these services are displayed at the beginning of the movie, bumping breast, biceps and all. No Christian woman would consider marrying such creatures and no Christian woman would spend her time looking at such creatures online. The movie gets worse from there! The message in this film is quite clear: if you are cheap, lazy, and desperate for a man then lay down with pigs and make your life worse than it already is. The front cover of the DVD is deceiving: it made me believe that the movie had value as did its female lead. However, I was very wrong! Please do not be deceived: there is NO value in this movie and certainly NO Christian values in this movie. A complete disappointment to me as well as a total waste of money!!

1.0 out of 5 stars I concur, this movie was horrible, April 27, 2010

This review is from: Don't Touch If You Ain't Prayed (DVD)
This movie was just plain awful. I just can't believe the message this movie is providing to everyone (married or single). Let's get this right, God is going to give a saved woman, that's been patiently waiting for a husband, a man that's married already. Then the married man (Bryant) is going to going to divorce his wife because of a drinking problem that he stimulated (by not spending time with her). After divorcing from his wife, he immediately get married to another woman (Paula) and they live happily ever after. The main kicker to me was at the end when his ex-wife gets saved and joins the same church that her ex-husband and new wife attends. Are kidding me, this can't be real. First of all, God will never give a woman a husband that belongs to somebody else. As a husband, I would never leave my wife just because she has drinking problem. As real men, we have to try our best to try to make the marriage work with counseling and prayer. It's crazy to me that his ex-wife went rehad after they were getting a divorce; they could have went to counseling together to resolve these issues and to save their marriage. This movie does not present good message at all.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor!!!, December 18, 2009
This review is from: Don't Touch If You Ain't Prayed (DVD)
First of all, the title of this movie does not coincide with its content. I have to agree with some of the other reviews; this movie was absolutely terrible!!! It was not well thought out, and it was poorly scripted!!! The plot was completely unbelievable!!! A forty year old virgin that works, yet lives at home with her family? I don't think so. I'm sorry to say that I was displeased with this movie. If I could get my money back, I would. Please consider the title before making this purchase and "don't touch if you ain't prayed!"

3.0 out of 5 stars Just ok!, February 7, 2010
This review is from: Don't Touch If You Ain't Prayed (DVD)
Cee Cee was looking fabulous throughout the entire movie but her acting and singing in it was not that great. I actually bought it to support her but if I had to compare her acting to the ones of everyone else in the film, she would only at that time get an A+ rating. Still she sings so aweful in this movie. It should not even really be on sale for anymore than 1.00. Sorry. The other critiques here will tell you more about the film in its' entirety. I can't put myself through anymore of even writing about it.
