Editorial Reviews

Review

"Dan Kolbet's Don't Wait for Me is a charming and engaging tale of an ordinary man who continues to give of himself generously long after he has little left to give. The author does a lovely job of showing that none of us exist independently of one another. Our lives continually touch and affect others. Things really do happen for a reason."
-Susan Barton, eBookReviewGal.com

"It is such a touching and emotional story that shows how important it is not to give up."
- Hailey, Goodreads Review

"This is a fast paced love story that made me laugh and cry."
- Katie, Goodreads Review

"The author keeps the book flowing with just enough to keep you reading and not wanting to put the book down."
-Barbara, Goodreads Review

From the Author

Don't Wait For Me is a love story, but not the typical boy-meets-girl, boy-loses-girl, boy-does-something-crazy-to-get-girl-back. Those stories have been told. I wanted to do something a little different.

The story centers on reluctant toy store owner, Edwin Klein. Edwin never wanted to own a toy store, but after the tragic passing of his wife, the store and all its problems become his alone. Amelia Cook just wants a real family so she can keep her children safe. Edwin and Amelia's story plays out over one holiday season. Their actions, together and alone, have dramatic implications for everyone they know.

I very much enjoyed writing this book and spending a few months with these characters. The reactions I've received from readers have been surprising and overwhelming. Never did I expect this little story to have such a profound emotional impact for readers. It feels wonderful that my readers have felt the same emotions I felt while writing the story.

I hope you enjoy it too.
-Dan Kolbet

I can't say I'm a great book reviewer because I haven't read books for long so this is kind of new for me. But I wanted to say I liked it very much. Both principal characters have their own separate histories but somehow they get together and affect each other filling their different needs. You end up caring for them and hoping the relationship develops and grows strong with time but bad things keep happening until they gave all they can to help each other. It reminds me a little of Nicholas Sparks' stories. The only difference is it didn't make me cry. I'm sure I'm going to look for other titles from author Dan Kolbet.

Interesting. Thoughtful. Surprising! "Don't Wait For Me" will have new meaning after you read this book... I'm often curious about new authors and nearly always fascinated by how "the same story" can be told with new eyes, fresh perspective and total honesty. Dan tells a familiar story that immediately pulls you in and holds you. He sets a quick pace early and maintains it throughout, only to drop you to your knees at the end. Reading it was definitely worth my time!

I picked this book up on a freebie promotion and was going to read it at a later date, but something urged me to read it right away. I loved the story for so many reasons.

Amelia is a single mom just trying to do the best by her kids and Edwin is a broken-hearted widow trying to deal with his guilt and his loss by salvaging his wife's dream...a toy store.

If you believe that everything happens for a reason...or that what ever energy you put out returns to you, you will love this story. Although it broke my heart when tradegy struck, at the same time, it was beautiful that Edwin found peace, Amelia found a purpose & a once divided family was brought back together again. Still teary about it, but yet, I am still smiling too. Beautiful and bittersweet.

This was really a great book. It's the first one I have read by this author but enjoyed his writing and plan to read more of his work. This book was very enjoyable to read, I felt like I knew the characters and rooted for them at every turn. It's the kind of book that I would recommend to my mother, aunts and nieces because it's a clean book that is actually good.

A fun read. Recommend for teens--it was nice to enjoy a G-rated story.
The story moves very quickly at the end.

This story had potential, even though the writing is at about a 7th grade level. One major problem is the fact that there are numerous typos, misspellings, and sentence fragments. Doesn't anyone proofread anymore? The unlikely conclusion is wrapped up in 2 pages, neatly, with a bow. So ridiculous. I did finish this book, but I've already forgotten it. Save your time and money.

I got this book for free or I would be more upset about having read it. It was trite, had misused and misspelled words, and was not even slightly compelling. I have no idea why the reviews are so good. Ugh. I want my four hours back.

Don't Wait for Me is refreshing and full of charm. Edwin, bereft and lonely, is tempted to drink too much as he watches the toy store which his wife's family has owned for 40 years, go down the tube. Although he doesn't realise it, dark forces are combining to destroy him and have already caused devastation in his shop.

However, the advent of a little shoplifter into his life changes everything.

The characters are so believable that I felt I knew them and that I too, was experiencing the magic in this Christmas story. I cared enough about what happened to them to invest deep emotion in their future.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to read a story to refresh their - perhaps jaded, certainly if tired - minds.

I congratulate the author on his lovely book, one of the best I have read since I got my kindle more than a year ago.
