beware the hype of Kent records -- biggest hit is an alternate recording, August 10, 2009

I may upgrade my rating after I get a chance to fully digest this cd, but off the bat I'll say I'm extremely disappointed that it does NOT contain the original recording of "(If Loving You Is Wrong) I Don't Want To Be Right," Luther Ingram's biggest hit. Unfortunately, every time the correct recording has been issued on cd, it's been in mono and from an obviously scratchy record. The stereo version included on this cd is obviously a different vocal take and also, from what I can tell, is also a different backing track.
Acerecords.co.uk makes a big point on their website about how the "master tapes" were finally found and being used for these two volumes of Luther Ingram's KoKo singles, but unless you consider alternate takes to be "masters" then that claim is misleading at best.
