5.0 out of 5 stars End the pity parties!
This is one of the best books I've read as a Christian. It totally clarified the role of suffering in the life of the believer (our suffering is not God's fault!), and armed with the Biblical facts brought out in this book, my attitude toward the hard part of life has changed dramatically and permanently. Several copies of this book should be in every Christian's...

1.0 out of 5 stars Very depressed after reading
A friend recommended this book. I read only three fourths of this book until I stopped. I did not find it helpful but very depressing. I do not recommend this book. I do recommend the other book this author has written called Destined For the Throne. I certainly would not recommend this book who is not a follower of Christ or does not read the bible. I don't disagree...

5.0 out of 5 stars A very timely book on Christian suffering., June 11, 1998
This review is from: Dont Waste Your Sorrows: New Insight Into God's Eternal Purpose for Each Christian in the Midst of Life's Greatest Adversities (Paperback)
This book presents a thought-provoking perspective on God's purposes for Christian suffering. The author supports his thoughts with Scripture. His interpretations and insights are deep yet very comforting. Although I have read numerous books on sorrow, tribulations, and suffering over the years, this book has had the greatest impact on my understanding of this most difficult subject.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Unique Insight, June 27, 2000

This book is difficult to describe. I have read over a hundred religion books and this one is certainly in my top five. The insight gathered from this book helped me to understand that trials and suffering in the life of a christian are purposeful and necessary far beyond anything that we generally acknowledge. This is a must read for any person who considers themselves a christian! This book will help you to understand the pain that life can bring and to make sense of it in the light of God's plan and will for you!

This is about the best book I've read that explains why God allows suffering & pain in this world. People are always asking why does God allow some of the tragedies that take place on earth.....give them this book. If you don't believe in God, maybe this will change your mind.

This review is from: Dont Waste Your Sorrows: New Insight Into God's Eternal Purpose for Each Christian in the Midst of Life's Greatest Adversities (Paperback)
Great book that puts today's sorrows and suffering into perspective-eternal perspective. All three of Paul Billheimer's books are great. They all talk about 'rule and rank' in the Kingdom of God as we go through our 'this school on earth'. It is all prepartion for when we will rule and reign with Christ in eternity future.

5.0 out of 5 stars Why Bad Things Really Happen To Good People, January 22, 2011

This review is from: Dont Waste Your Sorrows: New Insight Into God's Eternal Purpose for Each Christian in the Midst of Life's Greatest Adversities (Paperback)
I have been a Christian for 30 years now. When I was first saved at the age of 34, my biggest "problem" with God was that of suffering - particularly suffering of "innocents" or suffering by "good" people or suffering caused by the wrong-doing of others to innocent good people. This book gives full expression (with Scriptual back-up) to the Christian concepts of ALL things working for good in the lives of Believers, and Christians ruling and reigning one day in God's eternal Kingdom. I can't say Billheimer's conclusions make me much happier about the suffering that goes on in the here-and-now, but they do away with the notion of senseless, purposeless suffering, and a God Who's uninvolved with His creation. In addition, this book can provide the reader with the courage to "praise God in ALL things," as well as realize that his purpose in life, regardless of his circumstances, should be to bring glory to God!

Read this book over 20 years ago during a difficult time - gave it away to someone - and needed it again as a great reminder that this life is just preparation for the next. Billheimer communicates well the hidden grace of heaven's currency. A great witness to the values of eternity.
