I don't usually like commercial pop music, and while this may be "under the radar", that's exactly what this is. However, this EP is really, really good. "L-L-Love" deserves to be the biggest song of 2005. It's pure ear candy with some of the sexiest vocals I've ever heard. The rest of the EP just confirms that Blondfire (that's their new name) is one of the most promising commercial acts in a long while...

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice Song, March 9, 2005
This review is from: Don't Whisper Lies (Audio CD)
I heard their single L-L-Love and was pretty impressed. The sound is different from other songs out today. It is catchy like pop, but has that extra something.

I fell in love with Astaire from the moment I downloaded their single "L-L-Love" from iTunes a few weeks back. It was one of the FREE Singles of the Week, which work great in introducing me to cool new artists.

Astaire's style is loungy pop and their sound is that of the Cardigans, abeit fresher and hipper. I expect a solid album from them in the very near future. I will go see them this May at the Troubadour and I know they'll ROCK!

If you can't get their album from Amazon, try to get it from iTunes. You'll love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars The 5 most played songs on my playlist, April 3, 2005

This is an awesome albumn, you will L-L-love it (okay i promise not to be corny anymore). Not only are the songs so catchy i end up singing them all the time, but the interesting new rhythmes introduced in this EP leave you dancing in ways you didn't know you ever would...or maybe i'm a loser *shrug*

But it's the corrs meets rilo kiley, have a nice meal with dinner drinks before going out flaminko dancing.

I would check them out on iTunes for samples, and because it's 4.49 for the EP there.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super Sexy cool, November 16, 2004
This review is from: Don't Whisper Lies (Audio CD)
Brazilian siblings Bruce and Erica Driscoll relocated to NYC for the recording of their debut EP, Don't Whisper Lies. Teamed with producer Andy Chase, the influence of his band Ivy clearly shines through. Even more influential on Astaire's loungy pop sound is the Swedish band The Cardigans. If The Cardigans hadn't deviated from their sound of late, this could be their new record. Expect great things from Astaire.
