Right on the label it says everything for you..."For Fans of...The Killers, Interpol, The Faint, and Depeche Mode"
They couldn't be more right. Action Action serves to please in this album which I bought on a whim. The tracks are introspective, alarming, surprising, moving, and exciting! I wish I could say more but I just can't think of a way to express in words what your ears should be hearing! Go...now! Buy! Listen!

This CD is amazing. The ad says it best if you are a fan of new wave or anything like it you will love this CD. Its a bit more pop/rock and less electronic than The Faint but it satisfies the same apatite I just hope it holds up the as time goes by and I listen more.

I was at Wal-Mart, lookin around and i remember hearing the song "Drug Like" from a Victory Records sampler. I thought it was really crazy cool and had quite a unique sound. Unique in a good way. not bad. So i decided to take my chances with a cd i had hardly any familiarity in and bought it. As soon as i got home, i popped it into my computer and started listening. It is definetly worhth the money i payed. (11 bucks). The best track on the whole frickin cd, is number 3, photograph. The guy's voice is astounding, it is really really cool. I am a big fan of synthesizers and keyboards and stuff, so i am in love with this cd. I recomend it to anyone that likes really kickass music. Definetly worth the 5/5 i gave it.

I had never listened to Action Action before my friend bought there second album. I was blown away right from the beginning so a few days later I bought Don't Cut Your Fabric To This Years Fashion. I think I have listened to it all the way through 20 times and I still can't get enough. "Drug Like" is a beautiful, sad, electronic masterpiece. "Instructions on building a model airplane" rocks like something great. "The Short Week Begins With Longing" is the perfect ending, and everything in between is just as spectacular. Great CD.

With the combo of The Reunion Show's Mark leading the vocals, Count the Stars Clarke and Adam, and The Diffuser's Dan, this CD has come out to be one of the hot ones of this year in Indie. Their sound is amazing and "drug like" is so catchy, along with "lets never go to sleep" GO BUY IT

Punky angsty synth pop, better then you would think,

Ignore the label, that is a marketing campaign, you know the sticker that says for fans of the killers, depeche mode and teh faint, uhhh not nearly as good as any of them. Yet, for a side project debut from a bunch of indie emo/punk guys it's not bad.
They pull of the sytnh pop beautifully with "drug like", but fail on some levels with "photograph" which sounds like a synthy goo goo dolls-Bryan Adams cover. My fav's are Drug Like, A Simple Question, Broken, This year's Fashion/don't cut your fabric, and The Short Weekend Begins With A Longing. Overall, at times a bit too emo-like and angsty, but when they are mixing punky and synth it is better then the more straight ou tpunky or 90's pop rock songs, and the one and only bad song is an acoustic song track 11, it is just bad thank heavens it is only 2 minutes. But Drug like, and Broken are near perfect fun.

i saw this cd on mtv way back in august, a month after i got hooked on "the killers". in the ad, it says its for fans of "the killers" and some other bands,so me and my friend decided we wanted it really bad. unfortunatley, it didn't come out until september. so september came, and i forgot all about them. so recently, i was walking in a local music store, and there it was for 9.99: Don't Cut Your Fabric To This Year's Fashion. i picked it up without even thinking. i brought it home and was disapointed. after a while, i started listening to it again and it hit me; this cd was pure genius. all of the sudden, action action was one of my favorite bands. ive been listening to them non stop lately. i advise you to pick this album up. if you have heard too much emo punk lately, this is the cure.

Action Paction,
This review is from: Don't Cut Your Fabric to This Year's Fashion (Audio CD)
Action Action's Dont cut your fabric to this years fashion is a great cd for all 80s music lovers. They portrayed very good feelings in unusual lyrics comparing odd things but still making sense of their feelings. They are a very original band and i hope to see and hear more of this band. They have truly captured me and i cant get enough of them.

I recently saw Action Action in concert with The All American Rejects and they completely blew me away. They put on an incredible stage show! I bought the CD after their show and talked to a few of the band members. Since they only played a few songs during their set, I was hesitant to purchase their CD. I figured that those 4 songs they played would be the only ones worth listening to out of their 10+ tracks. I popped the CD in on the way home and was again surprised. I absolutely love every song on there. My favorites are Drug Like, A Simple Question, This Year's Fashion and Broken. However, all of the songs are worth listenig to.
Action Action is definitley a breath of fresh air. With their synth beats, the lead singers voice and occasional techno backgrounds, this CD is a must for any punk/rock/indie fan.

I thought this CD sounded a little creepy at first when I was previewing it in stores. But I decided, "Hey, I'll listen to anything new." and bought it anyway. And it turned out to be an outstanding album. Here's what I rate the songs:
1.This Year's Fashion = 6/10 2.Drug Like = 9/10 (definately reminds me of Depeche Mode.) 3.Photagraph = 10/10 (One of my favorites. This is the song you play really, really loud and wash cars to [optional].) 4.Basic Tiny Fragments = 5/10 and then 7/10 (a little boring at first and the lyrics are a little *stupid* to me, but at the end it gets more heavy metal and just plain AWESOME!) 5.Bleed = 4/10 (I always just skip this one...I don't know why.) 6.Instructions on Building a Model Airplane = 8/10 (Another cool one to dance to.) 7.A Simple Question = 5/10 8.Eighth Grade Summer Romance = 10/10 (it's just so awesome, that's why.) 9.Let's Never Go to Sleep = 5/10 10.Broken = 6/10 11.Four-Piece Jigsaw Puzzle = 3/10 (tooooo slow and acoustic. BLAH!) 12.Don't Cut Your Fabric = 10/10 (It's more upbeat version of the first song which makes it more awesome.) 13.The Short Week Begins With Longing = 8/10 (a great one to drive to...if you know how to drive, that is. But if you don't, just skate and whatever.) So, all in all, this 70's synth pop album takes you back to the days of Saturday Night Fever with John Travolta and the light-up dance floors. But it also has a new-wave punky vibe to it. So just shut up and dance!!! |
