Product Description

Amazon.com Review

A joy for kids and adults alike, these molds freeze eight pops of fruit juices , yogurt, ice cream, fruit-flavored iced tea, or chocolate-flavored evaporated milk. Layering colors and flavors adds extra appeal. (Recipes included.) They're made of thick, durable plastic, and the plate holding them permanently in place is heavy, bright chrome with handles so the molds can be moved to the freezer without spilling. Slotted plastic lids for the molds hold wood sticks (24 included) upright. After freezing, the lids serve as drip-catchers while the pops are eaten. Unlike boring cylindrical pops, those coming out of these molds have ridges, a retro shape that once pleased several generations of frozen-treat fans. The molds measure 9-1/4 inches wide, 4-1/4 inches high, and 4 inches deep, fit into a freezer's door compartment, and are dishwasher-safe. --Fred Brack

5.0 out of 5 stars Super ice cream bars!, January 25, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Donvier Frozen Pop Molds (Kitchen)
Simple product that works great! Uses 3 cups of yogurt, juice or softened ice cream to make 8 perfect popsicles or ice cream bars. Sturdy and well made - dishwasher safe. I love that it uses wooden sticks - like real popsicles - instead of the plastic handles that came with other ice molds I've tried. This one freezes fast and the bars are sort of "bomb-shaped" and easy to eat. It comes with only a few sticks to get you started, but they are easy to find at any craft store ... and are cheap. I use my ice cream maker to prepare my favorite home made ice cream (chocolate mint) to a slushy state and pour it into the molds - also works with store bought ice creams that are partially thawed. The (small) pamphlet that comes with the product has a great recipe for frozen latte bars - coffee!! I haven't tried it yet, but sounds wonderful.

The small parts that are mentioned in other reviews are only the eight, individual caps for each mold. (A total of only 9 parts to the whole set, plus disposable popsicle sticks). These caps hold the sticks in the proper place for freezing. They are removed once the popsicles are frozen, so I just take them all off at one time and store them together. The molds themselves are all held together in a metal frame, so I think this set is much easier to keep up with than the T*pperware versions of years ago.

Well worth the price. Only wish it made about twice as many bars...guess I need to order another set!

3.0 out of 5 stars A bit tough to get out....., March 15, 2004
This review is from: Donvier Frozen Pop Molds (Kitchen)
Overall this is a decent product, but we had a bit of trouble getting the pops out of the molds (the directions say to squeeze from the bottom, but that doesn't work)! The problem was temporarily solved by running hot water over the ones we wanted to take out, but it's a bit disappointing to have to do that. I don't remember having this kind of problem with the old plastic ones of yore.....

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad but why only 24 sticks?, June 3, 2002

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Donvier Frozen Pop Molds (Kitchen)
It is hard to go wrong with something as simple as this, but we ran out of popsicle sticks after about one week. Now I have to go thru the hassle of finding the right sticks that will fit (or else washing the existing sticks). There is no re-order info in the box.
