5.0 out of 5 stars Everyone loves this!
I bought this for my 5 year old son, because he is definitely a "color outside the lines" kid. When he started Kindergarten his teacher told me that he doesn't color in the lines (well, we never made him, we love his free spirit coloring). Anyway, he has never liked your traditional coloring books and I thought these might be a good way to help him color in the lines but...

3.0 out of 5 stars misleading
NICE BOOK FOR THE YOUNGER POPULATION. DESCRIPTION INDICATED THAT ADULTS WOULD LIKE IT ALSO BUT WHEN I REC'D IT I FELT THAT IT WAS TOO BASIC FOR ADULTS AND MIGHT BE SEEN AS AN INSULT IF I GAVE IT TO ONE.

I bought this for my 5 year old son, because he is definitely a "color outside the lines" kid. When he started Kindergarten his teacher told me that he doesn't color in the lines (well, we never made him, we love his free spirit coloring). Anyway, he has never liked your traditional coloring books and I thought these might be a good way to help him color in the lines but still let him use his imagination. (I bought both the Doodles and Scribbles by the way). These are just awesome. WELL worth the price! My son loves them, my husband loves them, and I love them. The added unforeseen plus was that it has made some great bonding time when we sit and do these books with our son. The only complaint I would have (and believe me, this is very minor) is that I wish the books lay flat when open, maybe like a spiral binding instead of a regular book binding. Other than that, they are awesome. I highly recommend these!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book, well worth its price, July 17, 2006

Your kids will never need another coloring book! This is a huge book that will keep the kids very entertained at home on a rainy day or in the car. And it's so much more than a coloring book; it's an activity book that even younger children can use. One example of what's in the book, there are four pages each with the exact same landscape. At the top of each page is a different "direction." One says "it's spring," the next "summer," the next "fall" and the last "winter is finally here." Great for fostering creativity and highly recommended.

I found this treasure of a book and I just LOVE it. It helps to jump start my creativity. This is a book that every artist should have in their library - it is FULL of short, simple and fun exercises to get those creative juices flowing.

5.0 out of 5 stars A plethora of creativity, January 23, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

This is part of a series of books from Japan starting with Scribbles that has a bunch of interesting artwork and directs children to either color in or complete the pictures. My daughters find this book fascinating and we spend hours coloring. This is a great book for long trips either in the car or even in an airplane, though its size somewhat limits it's portability (it's a BIG paperback book). One other possible downside is that some (very few) of the pictures are a little morbid and appear out of place, but I wonder if some references to dead people are more related to a different culture regarding death. This doesn't bother my wife and I and our daughters really enjoy this book.

I love this coloring book , as well as the others by this author!! I think it does a great job with engaging thought & creativity...& VERY humorous too!! It has things like...draw the apples on this tree, and now draw you eating the apples...or something over two pages that has a picture of a crane and says: whoever draws the heaviest thing wins! Its very creative, I love it!! & its super big too!!! Probably could last you a year or more of active drawing & creativity...definitely recommend it for children age 5 and above!!

My kids and I love "Doodles". Since receiving my copy, I've suggested it to several friends and all of them have picked up a copy as well. The drawings are fun and my kids are always entertained and challenged...great for car trips or anywhere you and your kids are stuck sitting around waiting.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this book., November 6, 2006

I am a student in Early Childhood Education and I picked up this book because it looked really neat, and it is! It's open-ended, so even if you made copies of the same page, everyone would come up with something totally different to go with it. I haven't actually used it in the classroom, I don't even know if copyright law would let me do so, but I have colored in it with my friends and they love it. Taro Gomi is amazing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant drawing book, November 26, 2009
This review is from: Doodles: A Really Giant Coloring and Doodling Book (Paperback)
I love this book so much because it is quite brilliant in it's simplicity. I have a 7 yr old and a 4 yr old and they both love it but what I love the most is that it started my 4 yr old drawing. I am an art and craft focussed kind of Mum but my young son really wasn't very interested in doing much of either (ye gads!) so I was ecstatic when this book finally brought out some interest in him. He did his very first drawing because of this book and is now art & craft mad.

I was truely happy with the coloring book. It's so imaginative and fun. There's endless possiblities on what to draw. I'm 25 and my boyfriend and I both love the book so much we argue over what pages each will color.
