9 of 9 people found the following review helpful By Quinten Mandryk on April 3, 2005
Format: Paperback
At last the genre we call doom has a home and in this volume is the most extensive collection and catalog of doom bands ever to exist on paper. You are not going to get biased reviews, though many times the writer does praise more than a few bands to his liking. But what you are going to get is a printed history of metals forgotten brother...doom and like it or not, his cousin stoner rock and estranged and gangly brother in law Gothic rock.
Sure their are a few bands he forgot to mention but this is a minor oversight as the writer tries to include every band in his knoledge such as Solitude Aeturnus, Saint Vitus, Burning Witch, Goatsnake, Iron Man and Candlemass. No Poison, Bon Jovi, Nu-Metal, Rap Metal, just straight forward, magnifisant doom (plus stoner and Goth). This author has also dedicated his time to creating other books of different genra's such as thrash, death, black, and power metal, among others. DOOM brothers go out and buy this book and support this classic style of music...or be doomed.
