5.0 out of 5 stars Can The Original Be Topped?, June 26, 2005
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Doom (Video Game)
If you don't mind extreme violence, this game is great in every way imaginable. Dark environments, demonic monsters, powerful weapons, they all make a great game.

The game is quite immersive too. Being in a state of near death, knowing that monsters are hiding all around by the sounds they make, it's an eerie feeling that the game captures perfectly.

Since I'm a sissy though, I always use the cheats and just destroy every monster in sight mercilessly. That's fun too. I particularly enjoy being in the middle of a whole mob of monsters that are trying to kill myself and each other. It's real fun to watch them fight each other. Man, this game is great.

This is an expanded version of the original Doom so it has some new levels too. Even without the new levels I would give this game 5 stars, but the extra levels are still a nice bonus. Just make sure you have a fast enough computer, because some of the new level environments are pretty fancy.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Ultimate Doom: Thy Flesh Consumed, October 27, 2004
= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Doom (Video Game)
The Ultimate Doom: Thy Flesh Consumed is amazing. Honestly, I don't see the difference between The Ultimate Doom and Doom as many of its levels are similar. I admit it, the graphics are boxy, but it was a breakthrough in those times when it was released probably 8 years back or so. The Ultimate Doom's divided into 4 episodes: Knee-Deep in the Dead, Shores of Hell, Inferno and Thy Flesh Consumed. I play Knee-Deep in the Dead a lot though, and I know it the best. The guns are fine, and there are plenty of places to stock up if health's low and the cheats aren't on. The monsters are the usual, though I always spare lovable-pink-monster-with-white-horns. Most of these monsters or aliens, kill each other as soon as they spot you, except Pinky, the Barons of Hell and these fireball-throwing imps. The texture of these levels are pretty good. Though not sinister, they are pretty forbidding which makes it a bit eerie being there, but I'm learning fast. Also, the techno music gives good company, but it especially sets the atmosphere in the last level of Knee-Deep in the Dead.

I highly recommend this First Person Shooting game if you just want to experience the thrill of the ride, though of course it's nothing compared to Doom 2 and 3.

4.0 out of 5 stars Classic, April 27, 2005
first of all I am a vateran at this game i have been playing it ever since i was old enough to use a computer.

Good things
-this is good if you want to find exactly where the new dooms came from
-it is one of the first FPS games ever
-you want to see what your precious halo games came from here it is

Bad things
-if your looking for up to date cutting edge technology and graphics this isnt your game
- the graphics are pretty bad as you can see from the picture but you have to think this was top of the line a long time ago

overall if you like games that arent up to date but you just like them anyways than this is right for you
