5.0 out of 5 stars ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS!!!!
I'm sure most of us got started on Brian Daley through his Han Solo trilogy like I did. Then my cousin brought this book over called "The Doomfarers of Coramonde" and since it was from the author of some of my fav. Star Wars books, I gave it a shot. Boy am I glad that I did! 3.0 out of 5 stars Vietnam Era Guns & Sorcery
The theme of 'Doomfaring' (defined poetically as seeking justice against impossible odds and therefore expecting one's doom) separates this work from a normal guns and sorcery book. I'd give three and a half stars, rounded down. Doomfaring elevates the novel, but the writing quality didn't impress me.

Doomfarers of Coromonde is divided into four distinct...

5.0 out of 5 stars ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS!!!!, April 4, 2002
This review is from: The Doomfarers of Coramonde (Mass Market Paperback)
I'm sure most of us got started on Brian Daley through his Han Solo trilogy like I did. Then my cousin brought this book over called "The Doomfarers of Coramonde" and since it was from the author of some of my fav. Star Wars books, I gave it a shot. Boy am I glad that I did! An Armored Personnel Carrier gets [snatched] out of the middle of a fight [and sent] to another reality where they have to slay a dragon and rescue a sorceress... and that's only a small bit! It was very readable and believable (for a fantasy story). Of all Mr. Daley's books, this and "The Starfollowers of Coramonde" are probably my favorite that he's written. I still have to read the GammaLAW books and Tron, so my opinion *might* be subject to change, but for now, "The Doomfarers of Coramonde" and "The Starfollowers of Coramonde" remain my favorites.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad for a first novel, February 16, 1999
By A Customer
I can't believe this book is out of print. Brian Daley is an underrated Sci-Fi/Fantasy writer. He only had 10 novels pulished up until the GammaLaw saga. Fans should try to find this one. In it, Prince Springbuck, rightful heir to the throne of Coramonde enlists the aid of Gabrielle and Andre DeCourtney-a pair of sorcerers-and their friend Edward van Duyn from our reality. Together they transport Gil MacDonald and his armored tank-like machine to kill a dragon beset upon them by the evil wizard Yardiff Bey. Gil goes back to his time to retrieve some things, then returns to help Springbuck regain his throne. The story leads into the Starfollowers of Coramonde book. A pretty good story with the fantasy elements thrown around like afterthoughts. 4 stars cause it works.

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite book, January 5, 2003
By
I re-read the Doomfarers and Starfollowers at least once every year. Mr. Daley was one of those authors who threw you right into the action within the first few pages and unfolded the history and detail as he went. Brian Daley served in the Army and it shows in the books attention to detail. I highly recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars People OTHER than gamers get taken to a fantasy world!, January 7, 1999

An excellent pair of books. The book has a very "real" feel to it. The characters tend to act more like people some of the other top authors.

Brain Daley was a rare talent. He will be missed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exceptionally good read, July 26, 2006
Though this book and its companion are now out of print, don't hestitate to buy them used. Like other reviewers here, I have read the Coramonde duology many times over the years, and enjoyed every reading. Though not high literature, these are two of the most readable and entertaining books I've ever read, and a personal benchmark for simply pleasurable fiction.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Sci-Fi Adventure, May 11, 1999

I've read this and the sequel (Starfollowers of Coramonde) many times over. One of my favorites of all time. The story is fast paced, and the characters are extremely believable. romance, humor, pitched battles and hair raising terror all under one title.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read!, May 4, 2008
This one grabs you and keeps you grabbed. If you are buying this one, buy the sequel now too. If you don't, you'll just be ticked after you turn the last page and realize you now have to WAIT. ;)

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the few good modern person goes to fantasy land novel, December 10, 1998

Real enjoyable. I think I've read this book and its sequel (Starfollowers of Coramonde) several times. The characters are neat, the world is cool, and the story is well-paced.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book, December 13, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I read this book 25 years ago or so when I was a young adult. I still remember the characters vividly - they were that well developed. (Reacher was my favorite.) I have sent this book to my young nephews knowing that they'd love it. At a certain age, when fantasy really does touch a young man's imagination and when he needn't worry about work or being an adult just yet - this is a perfect diversion.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best book ever, September 2, 2011
I bought my first copy in 1976. Still my favorite fantasy series, after Tolkien. Highly recommended! Brian Daley is the best writer you've never heard of.
