The manual on its own is not bad. It reads ok and has some useful information. The reason I 1 star it is its content is largely reformatted content from other books like the U.S. Survival manual.

I expected this book to be about surviving calamity, catastrophe, etc., but the majority of the book was dedicated to wilderness survival in different natural environments. Even the wilderness survival information seemed very basic. Not recommended!

This was combination of the boy scout field manual and the US Army Ranger manual. Was hopping more of a prepper application of survival then a boy scout book...good reference, detailed but not a book to read and gain insight unless you do not know deserts are hot and moutains are cold.

I have seen a few of the Doomsday Prepper shows on tv. I thought this would be a practical book to have as I was interested in ideas for natural disaster situations. It does cover a lot of territory, is interesting and rather fun to read.

Wow... what a terrible book. The book is only slightly better than the tv show on which it is is titled.

I was really surprise at just how full of info and pro tips were in this book. Figured it would be gimmicky but not at all. I have tons of prepper books, best ones by Arthur T Bradley- for home survival and Creek Steward bug out for car or outdoors, even some military guides and I must say this is a great book. It does not read like an end of the world fanatic book. Its more of a comprehensive book on surviving all different types of weather conditions, how to's and gear ideas, expert tip from the army, girl scouts, boy scouts and other experienced outdoor groups. How to improvise different things like snow shoes, bamboo beds, sun glasses and other really cool things. As much as I like all my books as its fun to get different perspectives, this is a great book if you only want one that covers the most outdoor survival. Aurthur T Bradley is better for home weather conditions like tornadoes and floods and hurricanes and the like. There is just so much information in this book its too much to list.

The most important thing other than the great information is it's just plain fun to read, not boring or drawn out at all. It also has great stories of doomsday preppers which are cool and funny at the same time although some may find them over the top in the prepping area but the book itself is less over the top and more practical information. It is a welcome addition to my top book collection. It's also a Great gift idea for friends and family. As I do think more people should be prepared at home and in their car, it's just common sense as murphy's law happens to us all at some point!

overall: buy it, great read, better info and really comprehensive in types of environments covered.

I bought this as a gift to my boyfriend for Christmas. He loved it. We have not read the entire book but what we have read, we really liked. It is very detailed and had things in there that I never thought of. I would highly recommend this book to anyone. It is very colorful and shows tons of pictures. It definitely keeps your interest.
