Another Solid Performance,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Door (Audio CD)
Keb' Mo' continues to expand his definition of "the blues" with this latest collection of songs. Blues purists may be initially disappointed...even his rendition of Elmore James' classic "It Hurts Me Too," has what to me is an odd arrangement. That said, "The Door" is a fine collection of songs ...honest, direct, good lyrics and elegantly done....and certainly flavored with a blues influence throughout...Mo's singing and musicality remain at their usual level of excellence....each listen gets better and better.... Although I bought the cd over a week ago, I waited to write this as I had the chance to see "Keb" perform last night....He did most of the songs on "The Door" as well as the majority of "Slow Down." I was slightly disappointed that he did not do "Love in Vain," however the show was incredible nonetheless...what one likes about his recordings comes through ten fold live...I had to drive three hours to see him...and drove home after midnite with no regrets...He is a national treasure.

Oh what a great set of songs - there is something so comfortable about Keb Mo's work. The music is infectious and the man's voice is unique.(plus he sure can play). He has a wide range of tricks in his blues bag and he uses them all. The track "mommy can I come home" will just tear at your heartThis CD is going to spend a lot of time in my car - great music to drive to at night Another winner Keb!

My First Time,
By Dave Jackson (Atlanta, GA USA) - See all my reviews

I can honestly say that this has been the only CD I have listened to for the past week. I was not a big "Blues" fan until I heard the cut "It Hurts Me Too." I realize that a lot of people may not like the way Keb' Mo' has intergrated so many musical styles into his interpretation of the "Blues", but for me that's what make it so appealing. For those of us out their that are searching for something a little different, this is just the ticket. There is just enough variations in tempo, style and emotion to keep you from getting bored. The song " Mommy Can I Come Home" is a real tear jerker and the clarity on my SACD player lets you hear every breath he makes, every stroke and slide on his guitar so well that you can close your eyes reach out and touch him. This realistic sound quality adds to the emotional involvement, which for me is one of the main reasons to purchase music in the first place. My girlfriends daughter who listens mostly to "Rap" even asked me to borrow it. The adminstrative assistant for our office who who listens to country was bouncing in her seat when I played it for her and begged me to get her a copy. This is clearly a CD everyone seems to identify with and after all, is that not what "Blues" is all about?

Best Keb Mo Yet,
By Sharon Jewel "sharonjewel" (Santa Fe, NM) - See all my reviews

Every single song on ths disc is great. The other Keb Mo discs had 3 or 4 great, great tunes and the rest were your average everyday blues tunes. Of course they were done with his unique and fantastic style and voice, but they were average blues tunes....except for the 3 or 4 which were absolutely incredible and made the discs worth buying. On The Door, every single tune is in that absolutely fabulous range. This is one of Keb Mo's best for that reason. It is a winner. It is great, and there is nothing compromised about it. It doesn't get boring; it is top notch. I played it 4 times in a row the first time that I heard it. I rate it awesome.

I'm not a long-time fan of blues music, but when I heard Keb Mo the first time, I was immediately hooked. On this CD, every song is a gem. Simple, intelligently written, a pleasure to listen to. A rare find that anyone, blues fan or not, will enjoy.

Kevin Moore or Keb Mo was just listed as my favorite (for the time being and will hold a place in my cd player for a while. Upon hearing It Hurts Me Too, my ears almost exploded with exstacy. The voice, the groove, the happy pollyana sounds that bring back memories of great parties, and friends and good times. This cd will be told to friends to buy, and so on, I intend to purchase the others this week, I have found my groove and he is KEB MO.

A Continuing trend,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Door (Audio CD)
An extremely talented musician, it appears that he is attempting to find a place for himself on light radio stations. The first two albums were oustanding collections, but did not find a voice on radio. The previous album was a step back, and The Door continues that trend. Songs like "Come On Back", "Anyway" or "Don't You Know" are light pop songs that don't distinguish him from any of a number of lightweight artists, and he deserves better. Maybe that's the direction his music is taking him, but I hope not. Hopefully, these songs come across with more of an edge live.

I am a new fan of Keb' Mo' and am quickly becoming a big fan!I saw Keb' on Austin City Limits and knew I needed to get the CD - he reminds me of Robert Cray - another great blues guitarist. This is music to sit back and relax by - but the relaxin' will soon give way to toe tappin'. It is a good one - buy it!

Keb Mo continues to entertain,
By

This is my third Keb Mo (a/k/a Kevin Moore--how about that for tongue in cheek humor--in his name, as well as his music) CD. His best was the self-titled CD "Keb Mo". His lyrics and his rockabilly, kicked back blues are always enjoyable. The 2nd or 3rd listening and you are singing along! When I saw him in concert here in Charleston, SC, it was hard to not sing or hum out loud.Pick any CD by this masterful blues man, but only his first CD would get 5 stars from me--call me picky.

Better after seeing live,

This review is from: The Door (Audio CD)
I must admit that when I first purchased the most recent of Keb Mo's CDs I was a little disappointed, did not leave me with the same spring in my step as the earlier three. BUT - after seeing him in concert again (fourth time)performing the cuts from this release and in an intimate venue in Atlanta it is one of my favorites! Every song has a fullness to it. So, if you can't see him live, kick back with a cold beverage in hand and try to imagine yourself there. By the concert end the entire place was dancing. Enjoy!
