4.0 out of 5 stars Safe Fingers!
This product is great, my 11 month old has a fascination with opening and closing doors and we haven't had any problems. The one concern I have for them is if you use them on doors that need to be closed and they need to be put on and removed at least once a day they stretch out and aren't stuck as tightly on the door. They do stay on but I can see in the future that...

This item is great to have around the house with small children.

Pros:
1. Inexpensive
2. Effective

Cons:
1. Ugly
2. Could be more stable

Overall: Great value

Personal Experience: You may find it useful to place the door stop horizontally, on the top of the door close to the door hinges, as opposed to the way it is pictured in the photographs. This seems to keep at least our door open enough that small fingers are not able to be caught between the door itself and the door frame on the HINGED side. This position also seems to prevent the cushion from being dislodged by a toddler repeatedly slamming the door.

3.0 out of 5 stars OK, depending on how you use it, May 6, 2011

OK here's the thing. This is pretty solid for a concept. I would have given it a 2 star rating, but in all fairness, it's sold as a finger guard and a close guard and not a slam guard so that would be a little unfair.

My main contention with this product is that the foam-type material it is made of, is not very durable. The first one I deployed lasted all of 1 slam before splitting in two. I learnt quickly that these can only be used for doors not intended for ANY possibility of major slamming. It begs the question what level of finger protection is this providing, but I guess if maybe you're thinking of toddlers there may be a small case. The product page also marketed among the intended usages, preventing doors from closing. If you are prone to get locked out because of auto-locks, etc. this may help (providing it doesn't slam, break the foam and then lock anyway).

The other thing I don't like about it, is that it gets dirty real easily and it's not that cleanable (after a while the pristine white, will look sorta grimy) and nobody likes that.

Would I buy any more... ahhmm... jury's still out on that one, but right now I'm leaning towards no.

We put it on a swinging door that springs shut in order to keep the door from slamming shut on fingers. It broke after only a week. It worked well while it lasted, but this just simply didn't last long enough. It isn't a really tight spring, either.

This is great for keeping your little one from slamming a door shut and possibly shutting himself in somewhere or pinching his fingers in the door jamb. It's best for doors that are meant to stay open though, and might slip off doors that are thinner.

It's great for the price and does the job!
