4.0 out of 5 stars We like it!
My daughter, 3, really loves these games and can now play them by herself from start to finish. It's all very intuitive, so she can easily move from activity to activity. I DON'T like the "adventure" portions of these games -- as someone else wrote, they're WAAAAY too much "video" and not enough interaction. But the "map" portions, where you can click on each activity...

2.0 out of 5 stars More like watching TV than playing a game
My three-year old son and I enjoy playing some computer games together, and Reader Rabbit games have been a big hit. My three-year old son and I enjoy playing some computer games together, and Reader Rabbit games have been a big hit. I saw this three-pack for such a good price, and we're Dora fans from rentals and books, so I decided to pick this up. Unfortunately, I was disappointed at how much this is a lot of talking and not too much playing.

While the games offer "story" vs "just play" mode, the story mode was more than half animations and talking, with just a little interactivity. Worse, the interactive parts will eventually just skip on and keep playing, even if the child doesn't try to do anything, so they just play like a movie, too.

If you've got a kid who's computer literate and you're looking for a different way to plop them down somewhere for a half an hour while you make dinner (and I'm not above that), then these games are slightly more interactive than the TV show. However, if you're looking for something educational or that's interesting to play while your kid's on your lap, this isn't the thing to get.

Me? I'll stick with the Dora videos and probably just buy the next Reader Rabbit game instead.

4.0 out of 5 stars My 2 1/2 year old loves it!, November 30, 2005
This review is from: Dora the Explorer Adventure 3 PACK [Old Version] (CD-ROM)
If you are looking for games for a younger child then this one is for you. I bought this 3 pack for my son for his second birthday and it has introduced him to computer operation, taught him pre-preschooler skills, and kept him busy (while I exercise, cook, clean, or take care of my 3 month old he has his computer time). He has been learning matching, number recognition, counting, colors, and even some spanish! I love it! He also loves to create 'drawings' and print them out to hang on his art wall (where we post all of his creations :) or send to his granparents. From this set, I have ventured on to buy more challenging games for him (however, he still enjoys regularly playing the three games), but as a starter set this one is great, especially if your child is as into Dora, Boots, and Diego as my son is.

We didn't even get this one out of the box. We ordered it primarily for Animal Adventures, which is also available separately. But this three-games-in-one package seemed like a better deal. Unfortunately, Animal Adventures is NOT Mac compatible. At all. Also, this says it's for Mac OS X Classic, which isn't readily available with Tiger. It's in there somewhere, apparently, but it doesn't boot automatically like it used to.

I wish that I had read the reviews before ordering this, but I relied on Amazon's product description. One of the three games is NOT Mac compatible, despite NO WARNING WHATSOEVER of this fact on he product description or on the packaging. Dora Animal Adventures will only work on WinPCs.

My 3 year old loves this game. He watches Dora on television, and I thought he might enjoy this. I was right about that. He can play the games on his own, and they are entertaining for him. I think some 3 year olds would have problems with some parts of the games while others would be able to play them all. I recommend this for kids from 3-6 years old. Great game!

We could not tear him away from the computer once he got started. The only problem was that there is an uninstall button near the start button that comes up when you load the cd. He managed to uninstall it a couple of times.

3.0 out of 5 stars A little boring..., November 25, 2008

Boring even for my daughter who was three when we got it, and she is now four. She was bored with it the first day. It's very slow moving and monotonous. She needs practice with the controllers, and she still gets bored.

This is just a waste of your money. The games are very cheesy and glorified version of what you see on TV/videos. No educational content...interaction between the software and the child is minimal...

I bought Reader Rabbit PreSchool and Alphabet Express along with the DORA 3-pack....these two are very educational as well as entertaining for my 4 year old.

= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Dora the Explorer Adventure 3 PACK [Old Version] (CD-ROM)
I bought this 3-Pack of Dora games for my 3 1/2 year old daughter; the first night she played for 2 1/2 hours straight and she still plays them everynight. They are fun and educational and keep her very entertained, and she is so proud of herself when she solves the games. She started out on Level 1 on all 3 games and after a month she is already doing the Level 3 version. Great for teaching colors, counting, numbers, and other skills.
