12 inch bike better for pre-schooler than trike,

At 2 my daughter got a trike that we pushed her around on. We got this bike for her at 3 and it was a bit big for her. It was perfect to grow into and now that she has it figured out, she zooms around on it like a teenager. I figured out that the trike was hard for her to manuever because the pedals are actually on the front wheel. This bike actually gave her more balance and she figured out she actually did have the manpower to pedal herself. She is now 4 and still rides her bike everyday, and we ride down to the park on weekends. We are getting braver each day and getting ready to try taking off the training wheels. GREAT BIKE, Great investment and you certainly can't beat DORA, she's our favorite!

Adorable Bike,
This review is from: Dora the Explorer Bike (12-Inch Wheels) (Sports)
This bike is absolutely adorable. The decals on it are cute. My daughter is 2 months shy of 3 but is 37" tall so she can ride this bike. She loves it. I wouldn't recommend it for any child shorter than 37" or they may have a hard time reaching the pedals even with the seat adjusted all the way down to its lowest position. The good thing about this bike is that a 3 to 6 year old can ride it so your kid will get lots of use on it because the seat is adjustable in height. For the price, it isn't bad. It even has a little Dora backpack you rest on the handlebars which is great for holding your keys and things when you are taking your kid out for a ride. Of course, your kid can store what they like in the backpack, but you can probably just store a juice box and keys since that's all the room there is in it.
The tires are nice and sturdy and will need to be pumped up with a standard bike pump. The bike comes with training wheels which are a plus. However, the training wheels are not as stable as one would hope, which is why I gave this bike 4 out of 5 stars. You have to be careful that the bike does not tip over on it's side as it did with my little one. She rolled down a little bump from a stand still position and the bike tipped to the side and she fell. Just be sure and hold your child steady when going down any slope or incline is all--otherwise, the bike is great.

A few kinks, but a decent ride,

My granddaughter loves Dora, so she was delighted with the bike. One of the pedals kept falling off and we had to work a bit to keep it on and it took her a while to figure out how to keep going forward. The brakes are very responsive. Overall, though, it seems fairly sturdy and is a good first bike for a preschooler.

NIce bike. Bad manual,
This review is from: Dora the Explorer Bike (12-Inch Wheels) (Sports)
We got this bike for my 3 year old for this past X-Mas. It seems to be a nice first bike for a toddler just starting out.
It has a few nice safety features such as the chain guard and locking seat. The one complaint that I do have about it is the manual that came with this bike it not very good. Along with the overly complex instructions, the diagrams and pictures are very poor and it is hard to make out on the pictures in the manual what part is which. Furthermore the manual is a general manual for a number of bikes in this series. So the manual at times will tell you to install certain pieces that you may not have which may be in another bike in the series. I mainly had to look at the picture on the outside of the box to put the bike together. It took me about 30-40 minutes to do it. Also the front fender that I got does not go on straight so I'm considering taking it off. You don't really need it anyways and it seems as though it may get in the way. Although it does serve a decorative purpose. We've only had the bike for less than a day so I'll update my review once my girl has used it for a few weeks..

Product was dirty and scratched upon delivery. No fault of FED EX. Easy to assemble, but very cheap construction. Do not recommend. Made in China

I bought three (3) Dora the Explorer 12 inch bikes for Christmas gifts. I have twin granddaughters, who will be 3 on January 19th, and a neice who will be 4 on January 25th. They love them. The bikes for my twins were actually an incentive for them to being "potty trained". It worked well. This product I was not able to find locally so thanks Amazon.

I bought this as a Christmas present for my Niece. She loves it. It is her first bike of her very own. She always gets the hand me downs, but not this time. She rides it all the time.
