I recently purchased my second "Dora Saves the Mermaids" toy for a friend's daughter. Although I feel that the value for money is good, I must warn that the batteries for the Dora Mermaid doll are quite expensive (around $15-$18). I have also encountered a flaw in both toys that I've purchased. On both Dora Mermaid dolls (from the two separate toys I've purchased) I've noticed that the long skirt has trouble moving up. It is supposed to turn into a mini-skirt when you press a button. On my daughter's doll I have to manually help the skirt move up. I was hoping this would not be the case for the toy I purchased as a gift, but it was worse. The skirt wouldn't move up, not matter what I tried. That was not good, considering it was a gift. But I must still re-iterate that it is a good value for the money you spend.

When this box arrived, I thought I must have mistakenly hit Amazon's one-click ordering box for a printer, car battery or TV set. To my surprise, it was the set of four Dora dolls along with the subterranean accouterments / furniture comprising her underwater royal realm. I assumed it would be a set of miniatures, but these are well-fed, sizable specimens--all three of them. Had they been shipped via Amazon Prime, I'd have ordered a few more for young adventurous heroines not averse to salvaging Ariel and friends from the earth's increasingly polluted waters. Even so, the postage isn't bad and, considering the price of the individual Doras, this is an undeniable deal, guaranteed to bring smiles to all the granddaughters whose heads these days appear to be filled with Ariels and Doras. What an ingenious idea on the part of the manufacturer to combine the two--sort of like getting a single comic book featuring both Batman and Superman, or Roy Rogers and Gene Autry. No wonder this excites kids!
I was momentarily hesitant about rating the educational value of the item, since printed in large letters on the outside of the box is the following description: "Dora's Saves the Mermaids." I'm all for teaching youngsters, many of whom have already been jaded by text messaging and chatroom prose, that the apostrophe is not as yet extinct, but let's have Dora save the mermaids first. Then when her self-esteem is sufficiently reinforced, slip in a lesson or two on the proper uses of the apostrophe. (Or perhaps Dora's next adventure will consist of teaching her makers some grammar.)

This product comes with Mermaid Dora, three extra dolls and the salon chair....all for under $20 with shipping!!! I'm so excited about giving this gift to my almost three year old daughter on Christmas morning. She is the world's BIGGEST Dora fan, so I know she'll just love this set. The product was shipped very quickly and received just a few days after ordering. I would recommend this seller to anyone. Thank you Webs Best Deals :-)
