Dora the Explorer Season 1

Editorial Reviews

It’s Dora The Explorer in her biggest DVD release of 2008! Dora Saves The Snow Princess is an all-new, movie- length adventure, available only on DVD! In this adventure, Dora, Boots and the Snowflake Fairy are off to save La Princessa Sabrina and her snowy forest from a mean witch who has locked her in a tower and taken away her magic snow crystal. Dora’s going to need your help because time is running out and the snowy forest is almost melted!

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed little girl, October 26, 2008

This review is from: Dora the Explorer: Dora Saves the Snow Princess (DVD)
The main reason my daughter was so excited about this movie was because of the pegasus shown on the front cover. She's so into horses and if they fly or have a horn...even better. Well, guess what...NO Pegasus in this movie! She kept asking where it was and when the movie was ending and still no pegasus...the tears came (she is a dramatic 4 yr old, but I was even disappointed for her). As it turns out, the pegasus is only in the "Special Features" section as a music video which is about 3 minutes long. What a disappointment. As it turns out she still enjoys the movie (it also comes with 2 other episodes: Dora's Jack-In-The-Box and Bark, Bark To Play Park), but I make sure we watch the music video a couple times before I turn it off. She's accepted it now, but still I wish I would have known before her Grandma bought her this movie.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great Dora DVD!, October 5, 2009
By
My 2 year-old daughter and I couldn't wait for this one to make it to TV, so we borrowed it from our library, and I'm sure glad we did! In the double-length title episode, Dora is once again on a storybook adventure, this time helping to preserve the Crystal Kingdom's beautiful colors by retrieving its four magic crystals from a greedy king. This episode put a lot of emphasis on sharing, always a popular theme for the preschool crowd, and followed the usual format and the same old, beloved cast of characters. My daughter was really excited when the Snow Princess made a few brief appearances, while I greatly enjoyed Richard Kind (Paul from Spin City) doing the voice of the greedy king. I did have to roll my eyes when Dora and Boots got butterfly wings, envisioning the inevitable marketing of butterfly-winged Dora dolls for Christmas, but as my daughter thought that part was "awesome" I guess I can't complain too much.

The other two adventures included on this DVD are both great episodes too - one about Boots and Tico's first day of school, and the other a King Midas-like tale about a wish machine that makes bananas drop on Boots' head every time he says "bananas." Overall, a great, fun new Dora DVD!

4.0 out of 5 stars My niece likes it, January 9, 2009

This review is from: Dora the Explorer: Dora Saves the Snow Princess (DVD)
Personally I can't stand Dora but my 4 year old niece loves her. So, if she's entertained (and quiet) when this is on I'm happy. I'm not sure of the educational value but my niece does pay attention and do the little movements and exercises. I'd recommend for the young kids.
