4.0 out of 5 stars Good for child/not younger toddler
My 18-month-old loves her Dora bed, but the "safety" sides are really not "sides" at all, so she falls out of it. I wouldn't dare take it down (she kisses Dora "goodnight" each night), but I can't let her sleep in it alone, either...we're going to build our own safety rails and screw them in, so hopefully, she'll be able to use the bed in a few days. It's made very well...

1.0 out of 5 stars NEVER buy!!!!!
I bought this for my three year old and I regret it completely and have since taken it back. It is very cheaply made, screws and nuts didn't fit together, and looks absolutely NOTHING like the picture. Although it says it can be used with a standard crib mattress, when we finally got it together, the top of the mattress and the top of the siderails were the same height,...

It is very cheaply made, screws and nuts didn't fit together, and looks absolutely NOTHING like the picture. Although it says it can be used with a standard crib mattress, when we finally got it together, the top of the mattress and the top of the siderails were the same height, easily allowing a child to fall out. And as much as it broke my lttle girl's heart, I had to take it back out of concern for her safety. It was a complete waste of time, energy and a whole lot of aggravation!

1.0 out of 5 stars Picture is very deceiving, July 24, 2008
I agree with the other parent on this review. We just bought this bed for our youngest daughter and although it clearly states both on the website description AND on the box that you can use a standard crib size mattress...once it's put together the mattress is flush with the top of the bed leaving NOTHING of a safety railing for your child.

In the picture with this product the mattress is actually sitting on the floor...it IS NOT inside the fully put together frame. Parents beware...this bed is for a child much older than the age of 3 unless they sleep like a zombie and never move from one spot.

Although the bed is cute i could have saved money, aggravation and so far 2 sleepless nights by purchasing a much cheaper bed with much better safety rails!

My daughter has been sleeping with us for 2 years and when we bought this bed she immediately loved it and slept in it day one but she did keep getting up during the night but the point is, she actually stayed in the bed. Now she is getting more comfortable and is getting up less at night, whoohooo!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent purchase, January 17, 2011
This review is from: Dora The Explorer Wooden Toddler Bed (Toy)
We bought this on an unexpected need when my daughter was 15-months old. We caught her with 1 leg dangling over her crib as she had learned to crawl up & over the edge. That same day we ran to BRU to look at toddler beds, and we saw this - bought it because it was mostly pre-assembled, and was 15% off as a floor model.

My daughter LOVED it. The first night or two were strange and she fell out once or twice (the picture is deceiving, the mattress sits above the rail except right by the head). We used a body pillow next to the bed - if she fell out, she had a super-soft landing. We have a clear gate at the door, so she wouldn't wander during the night if she got up. She just turned 4 in December, and as she is VERY tall, she is almost too long for it. My husband (~200 lbs) sits on the bed all the time, NEVER any problems. The bed was bought in May 2008, it is now January 2011, and we have NEVER had a problem with it, daughter sleeping in it or adult sitting on it just about every day.

I have a 19-month old son, and I'm trying to find the matching boys bed like this for him - my husband doesn't want him in a Dora bed, and i'm fine "reusing" it. I would absolutely buy this again (especially in a boy's version - not the "newer" Delta beds), and will be holding this to pass on to my sister for her daughter.

MY DAUGHTER(2 1/2) LOVED HER CRIB AND WOULD NOT NAP OR SLEEP ANYWHERE ELSE, UNFORTUNATELY HER CRIB WAS BROKEN AND WE HAD TO GET RID OF IT. I WAS GOING TO BUY THE PRINCESS BED BUT SHE INSISTED ON THIS ONE. OF COURSE EVERYONE WAS OUT OF STOCK EXCEPT HERE. I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE A NIGHTMARE TRANSITION. THE BED WENT TOGETHER 1-2-3 AND I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET HER OUT OF IT SINCE. THIS BED IS SO ADORABLE AND WELL MADE. I RECOMEND THIS TO ANYONE WITH A LITTLE GIRL WHO IS OBSESSED WITH DORA, BOOTS, BACKPACK AND MAP (THEY ARE ALL ON THE BED)!!!
