Book Description

October 23, 2000
Dora Maar was already a photographer of significant standing by the time she met Picasso. She was to stay with him as lover and muse for seven years before their stormy relationship reached a painful end in 1943. This biography denies the myth that she remained a tragic figure, broken by genius.

4.0 out of 5 stars An artist in her own right., July 29, 2010
This review is from: Dora Maar - With and Without Picasso (Hardcover)
Dora Maar is frequently referenced as secondary to Picasso; however she was an artist and photographer of great ability in her own right. This enlightening biography is full of photos of her work enabling the reader to see Dora Maar away from the shadow of arguably the greatest artist of the C20th. Mary Anne Caws leads us through the myth and mist surrounding Maar and shows us just how gifted she was. Painter, Photographer and Poet, Model and Muse.

Here it is".
