5.0 out of 5 stars For 5 and up
I personally liked this book. It really lets children interact with the storyline, which is to get Dora safely to the library so she can return her books. Dora asks the reader for help in finding articles in her backpack that will help her accomplish this goal.

Overall, this book was a little too advanced for my soon-to-be three year-old cousin. Be sure to buy this...

2.0 out of 5 stars dora book
I was not pleased with this purchase and am sending it back. It did not arrive in the appropriate time, and was not worth the money in shipping. It cost me four times the amount of the book.

Overall, this book was a little too advanced for my soon-to-be three year-old cousin. Be sure to buy this book for a child who's older, because it's not a hardcover book (a little one will rip this easily) and it might be a little difficult for a toddler to interact with the story.

My 2 year old is a big Dora fan and this book is requested at bedtime every night. It is very interactive (there are lots of questions in it like "where is boots?" or "Can you count the books?" ) It is a good inexpensive book for any Dora fan.

4.0 out of 5 stars Go Dora Go! Counting, Problem Solving and more, October 10, 2005
This review is from: Dora's Backpack (Dora the Explorer) (Paperback)
In this adventure, Dora sets off to return her library books. If you don't remember the television show, the obstacles include not knowing how to get there, the Grumpy Old Troll, a storm cloud, icky-sticky mud, crossing Turtle River, and a closed door at the library.

Most of these obstacles are solved with the help of Backpack and your child. The Map shows the way, and Backpack has the supplies to solve most of the problems if they only could figure out what to use. What Backpack can't do, you child can, by helping to point out what to use.

Pros:
What I like about this book is that there is alot to learn. Children can learn all about maps, for example. How they are representational of real terrain and places.

It also lets you and your children practiced rhyming. The Troll's quiz, for example, begs the question of what rhymes with `guizzers'? Scissors!

And the Backpack sequences lets children look at a collection of items, recognize their use, and then select the appropriate item. Sort of like, Problem Solving 101.

Also, there are many opportunities to count throughout the book, though the most obvious chance comes at the end when Dora counts to make sure that all of the books are there.

And finally, one of my favorite things is that the story is about the Library. Dora is associated with books and reading, thus setting a good example.

Four Stars. One of the better Dora books. In this one your child has plenty of opportunity to answer questions and help out their pals. Counting, Problem Solving, and more all at a good price.

I bought this book for my niece and she enjoys having me read it to her and point out pictures so she learns new words. She is a big Dora fan.

This is a great book! I am usually not fond of television character books, but this one is fantastic. It has a short, well-developed plot that is predicatable for the little ones to join in on. It is short enough to have as that "one last book" before bedtime.

Got this for my 2yr old grandaughter. She keeps all "Her Stuff" in it. It is very soft and looks just like the "backpack" in all Dora's story's and cartoons. Quick shipping...

5.0 out of 5 stars We Love Dora!, December 28, 2010
This review is from: Dora's Backpack (Dora the Explorer) (Paperback)
My 20 month old is a huge Dora fan. This was the only Dora book we had and she was making me read it to her EIGHT times a day. I like Dora too but it was driving me mad so we had to get some other titles. We now have 11 different Dora books and 4 Dora DVD's and will be getting more.

The story is quite interactive and my little girl loves to point out Boots when asked where he is. She loves pointing out which items we need from backpack (scissors, umbrella, etc.) though I do have to tell her the name of the item we need (for example, the book says "To cut through the net, use a pair of..." and I will say "Scissors! Where are the scissors?" and then she points to them).

All in all it is a wonderful book and one that we very much enjoy reading together.
