A Really Good Book for Children,
By LUV 2 READ NJ "nj_mommie" (NJ United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dora's Fairy-Tale Adventure (Dora the Explorer 8x8 (Quality)) (Paperback)
This is another enjoyable Dora book. It follows the same premise as the movie, Dora and Boots are in Fairytale land, Boots gets turned into "Sleeping Boots" by the mean witch. Dora has to become a "true Princess" in order to wake sleeping boots. To do so, she must pass four tests. The book DOES veer from the movie in certain parts though, and if your child is older they will notice the differences. But I don't think this distracts (at least my daughter) too much. This is one of her favorite books, she has actually memorized may of the pages and reads them along with me. Sometimes I hear her repeating the words to her dolls and stuffed animals. You can not beat that for encouraging a lifetime of reading.

This is a brief picture-book adaptation of Dora's Fairy-Tale Adventure. A mean witch turns Dora's best friend into "Sleeping Boots." Only a true princess can save him, but Dora doesn't know any true princesses -- so she she is Boot's only hope. She must first pass four magical tests.
My daughter loves this book; I have read it to her again and again. It is missing, however, any educational elements (such as counting or picking the right item from Backpack, etc.) found in some other Dora books. If your child reads Dora and likes princesses, then she will probably love this book. Parents might feel more lukewarm towards it, however.

This is so utterly moronic... Only people who were already drinking the Dora kool-aid (or had seen this story on TV) could think that this string of words could actually pass for a "story." God, "Dora" is a dumb show. At least with the books you don't have to hear the obnoxious, whiny voiceovers. I feel sorry for kids who get parked in front of the 'tube when "Dora" is on... What a terrible way to spend your childhood.
