50 Lumens isn't a lot, but is probably adequate for modest illumination of objects within 20 or 25 feet away. (It would be best to understand what 50 Lumens is like before buying.) If the primary use would be checking under the hood on a dark night, or for use during an episode with a flat tire at night, 50 Lumens is just fine. When charging it in the cigarette lighter it sticks straight out appx. 6 inches. The flashlight is well made and sturdy.
