Very Very Handy,

This little light fits in the pocket on my shirt. I carry one at work all the time, as I am always needing a light to see small numbers on our product. One LED is not really bright but it is enough to see most any small object. I accidentally brought mine home one day, my wife saw it and said "why don't you ever buy me a little light like that to go in my purse". To see the door keys etc. etc. It is a very convenient little light, and so small you can carry one anywhere.

The most convenient flashlight,

I bought this little flashlight two years ago, and it's the most fantastic flashlight I've ever owned. It's small enough to put it in my pocket and use it almost every day (for wondering in the house at night, or for reading in bed with the flashlight sitting on my head ;-)) but not too small that you need to use non-standard and expensive batteries (I actually use standard rechargeable AAA batteries, and one charged battery lasts for many hours of light). The light this flashlight gives out is surprisingly good for its size, but definitely this is not the flashlight for you if strong light is what you're looking for.
The flashlight's finish is beautiful - it is entirely anodized ("brushed") aluminum, with rubber grips in just the right places to allow you to rest the flashlight on your head, or between your teeth, when you need those two hands free ;-) To summarize, this is the most practical flashlight I've ever seen. If you're looking for a super-flashlight to light up the radius of a mile for a week, look elsewhere. But if you're looking for a simple but convenient flashlight to use frequently in your home, this is the perfect flashlight.

Use this every night so I don't have to turn on lights in the house (and wake anyone).
I use a rechargeable battery, and it needs recharging every couple of weeks. The light is a circle with a defined outline. My first light had a diffuse outline. I found at Walmart for a lot less, especially with the rip-off shipping charges at Amazon. My only complaint is that the rubber around the head slips off easily. The rubber in the middle is fine for cushioning my teeth when I hold it for close work that needs more light.

This flashlight is the very best pocket flashlight that I have ever owned. It is unbelieveably bright for its size and holds a battery charge for a long period of time. The AAA sized battery is also very easy to replace. I am not a person who normally gives reviews on products, but this flashlight earns the right to have an excellent review.

Surprisingly good little flashlight!,

I bought a number of these as "stocking stuffers". They are extremely well designed and easily fit in a pocket or on your key chain (with included ring). Ours even came packaged with a AAA battery. The walk from our parking area to our front door can be dark if we've forgotten to turn on the outside lights. This little flashlight has "saved the day" a number of times by providing a tight beam of bright light, perfect for unlocking the door or even for searching for something in the bottom of your purse or in the back of the car where the dome light doesn't reach. It doesn't use a lot of charge so the battery lasts a long time. A great buy!

I have 3 things in my pockets at all times.
1) A BIC lighter 2) A SuperKnife 3) A Dorcy AA LED flashlight I bought the Dorcy about 6 years ago at Walmart and liked it though I used it very little. Now I live in Ruralville and use it much more. You know what they say, if you like something, buy two. So I went and bought 4 more of them. Sadly, the Walmart around here stopped carrying them, but if I see them anywhere else I will buy a few more to have on hand. I have the one in my pocket, 1 on my bedside night table, one in my truck console and one lying here on my desk. I also have several larger Dorcy flashlights as well. I use my Dorcy every night walking from my workshop to the house and it always works perfectly. At 11pm every night I walk the muttz down through the woods and use the Dorcy to see and to ward off coyotes. The battery lasts a long time and I change it maybe once a year. The rubber grips help it to stay in your pants pocket if you happen to be upside down. I put a rubber band on my BIC and Superknife to keep them from falling out. Thats an old trick we used in the army. I highly recommend the Dorcy AA Flashlight and oh yea, it comes in various anodized aluminum colors which always look pretty cool, but my favorite is the plain silver one. Go out and get one today, you won't regret it and you'll surely find it useful, in fact, buy two! Yes, my wife has one too.

Wonderful little flashlight.
Certainly exceeded my expectations. Big-time. This little flashlight is just great in terms of design, quality, performance. Now you may laugh at me (for the following) if you wish. But I bought mine just to see if my used AAA batteries (retired from a small digital camera that I have) actually do have a good bit of life left in them. Well they do. This little flashlight works fine on AAA batteries that were no longer up to the camera's needs. I was not sure what to expect in this test (experiment) but I got a very pleasant surprise from this little flashlight. My suspicions were confirmed. I went over to rechargeable AAAs for that camera a couple of years ago, but I held on to a collection of 'dead' alkaline AAAs with sell-by/use-by dates of years into the future. Because I figured that they'd still probably be good enough for a AAA flashlight. Even though, back at that time, I didn't know that LED AAA flashlights were out there. Gee whizzakers, I should never have to buy this little flashlight a new battery. Between the collection of used ones and the sets of rechargeables that I have. I think that I titled this review as 'Excellent Investment' or something like that. Other good surprises that this Dorcy flashlight gave me are: Solid, simple, well thought-out design and construction. Bright light. Plus, it's a cute little critter. Handy-dandy little piece of equipment that I'm really glad to have. Now I'll just sit back and watch for all kinds of negative reviews of this positively great little flashlight. The Dorcy 41-4234. Oh by the way, mine's either green or blue or maybe teal, I'm no good at describing colors. C L Smith

Good little flashlight. I've been carrying one of these in my laptop bag for over a year now. It really comes in handy on business trips, especially red eye trips on a plane. Obviously there are a lot of different options out there when it comes to flashlights, but being that this one is LED, it's not a bad deal.

I currently own three of these Dorcy's (Red, Gold, and Blue), a Fenix E01, and a Streamlight 66318 MicroStream. In comparison of the three different models, the Dorcy is the least expensive at about $5 less that the Fenix E01 and $9 less than the Streamlight 66318 MicroStream. As of this review, all three of these are offered through Amazon.
As I would expect, the quality of build and the lighting performance of these three flashlights correlates pretty closely with the actual price difference. Let me first say that I have found all three of these different flashlights to be extremely durable. I have abused all three models, with multiple 5+ foot drops to concrete, and many washer cyles. Constant carry in pockets together with large key chains, Leatherman Micros, and coins. All three have stood the test of time and abuse without failure. All three of these different models/brands have the same form factor and in fact all operate on a single AAA size battery. Depending on how much you want to spend, I would not hestitate to recommend all of these models. The quality and performance for each of these I have found to be in direct correlation with their price. So in my opinion here goes: I would rate the quality and performance (brightness) for the Dorcy at one half the Fenix E01 and the quality and performance for the Fenix E01 at half that of the Streamlight 66318 MicroStream. With increased performance from the same power source comes shorter battery life that closely corresponds inversely with the performance. With that said, here is how I use these. I keep the Dorcy's in my vehicles as spares/backups. I'm an avid fisherman, so the Fenix E01 goes in my fishing tackle bag. The Streamlight 66318 is my EDC, it goes with me in my pocket everywhere. In fact, I have just ordered a second of the Streamlight model as a backup in case I misplace (such as in the laundry basket) my primary. I have found each of these to have their place. The Dorcy's are great because of their price, durability, and adequate performance. I find I prefer them 2 - 1 over the more expensive AA Maglites. You can just buy a bunch of these to have them where you need them. Plenty of light for map reading in a car, navigating a dark house, or whatever. The Fenix E01 is great for me in my tackle bag. When threading fishline through hookeyes and tying knots in fish line at night I sometimes prefer a little brighter light than I get with the Dorcy's. Never a worry about Fenix getting damaged or wet in my tackle bag. I'm confident it will work every time I need it. The Streamlight is the Cadillac of these models and the one I carry full-time as my EDC. Hope this helps some. Just to be clear, I have actually owned six of these Dorcy's over time (I've lost three, but never had one fail, unlike the AA maglites I've owned), so when I lose one, I do not hesitate to buy another one for replacement. I am a repeat buyer of these and that's why I can recommend them. |
