5.0 out of 5 stars It Works!, January 17, 2008
I am back on the site to order a couple more of these gadgets. I ordered one to try it out and (somewhat to my surprise) it actually works. The power went out recently when I was visiting my brother's house and we scrambled around in the dark trying to match up dead flashlights with batteries. I had heard about the crank type flashlight, so I tried this one on a whim. Since it does what is advertised, I decided to share my review for those who are also unfamiliar with this type of hand cranked gadget. Also, I was able to pick up great reception on the radio. I haven't tried the DC adapter to charge my cell phone, but I liked the idea of being able to charge my cell phone using the same power supply cords that I use in my car.

5.0 out of 5 stars Handy in an emergency, June 26, 2008
By bleh bleh (Knoxville, TN) - See all my reviews
Nice compact size, ease of use, good flashlight, good radio. Maybe a little flimsy - I wouldn't expect it to survive a drop from much of a distance onto a hard surface. I haven't tried the phone charger yet, but I have heard most hand crank devices take a while just to get a minute or two of talk time. In a dire emergency, I guess that would be enough, but for the most part, the flashlight, then the radio functions would be the primary uses.

3.0 out of 5 stars Excellent flashlight; adequate radio; lightweight & compact, December 12, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Excellent emergency flashlight with a radio that's strictly for emergencies. The radio's tuning dial is a coin-sized disk oriented edge-wise, like in a 1960s-era pocket radio, so tuning can be painstaking. Once tuned, however, major stations were clear; both AM and FM. Speaker is very small. No headphone jack.
My trial of the cell charger was completely unsuccessful. I connected my Motorola RAZR using a Moto OEM car charger & cranked for 32 full minutes, but the phone would not even turn on. (I know the connection was correct because the car cord glowed blue, as it does when connected in the car, and the phone read, "charging.")
Bottom line: if you want a bright, reliable, compact wind-up flashlight with a radio for emergencies, this device will do. If you are shopping primarily for a radio and don't mind a little extra weight, spring for a better one. (For charging your cell phone, try a battery-operated charger such as the Energizer "Energi To Go" or the iGo.)
