Love this flashlight.,

Bought this light after much searching and comparing amongst other LED rechargeables. I must say that I am very pleased. The flashlight is extremely bright - certainly more than enough for my round-the-house, round-the-car needs. It is also lite and quite sturdy. Charge quality is very good. I let it charge overnight once and it is still going strong after several months of occasional household use with no noticable drop in brightness. The flashlight comes with two chargers, one for the car and one for the house. Both plug into a small headphone jack-sized port. This port is hidden under an aluminum collar just below the activation switch. This collar can be unscrewed, moving about an inch down the body of the light, revealing the receptacle. From there, you plug and are good to go. I am already pondering a second one of these for the upstairs - maybe another for the car. For the price I am not sure you can do much better.

If I were rating this light on build quality as well as the quality and quantity of light I would give it five stars. However, the battery supplied is a NiCad which suffers from memory problems. The recommendation is to fully discharge the battery before recharging. Therefore having a fully charged light available for any emergency of use is prevented. I wish it were powered with a LiIon battery which does not suffer from memory problems and can be topped off any time necessary. Other than the battery it's excellent.

I purchased this flashlight in May 2009 and I've found it to be an excellent household flashlight. It has a nice wide beam, quite a bit wider than my other LED-based flashlights and is very bright.
Its main flaw is its battery system. It has a rechargeable NiCad battery that is a non-standard size and has a dumb (non-smart) charger. If you like to keep the flashlight charged and ready, the battery will tend to develop memory and a short charge life. Because the battery is not a standard size, you can't replace the battery with standard cells, nor can you charge the battery in a smart standard charger (like the La Crosse Technology BC-9009 AlphaPower Battery Charger) which would keep your NiCads in good shape. I also own the Luxeon Rebel 80 Smith and Wesson Luxeon Rebel 5 Watt Tactical Flashlight. That one doesn't have as wide a beam but uses standard batteries. It is more compact, somewhat more rugged, uses standard batteries, but has a narrower more focused beam. I recommend the Luxeon over the Dorcy if you need a flashlight for camping or travel or if you want standard-sized batteries, provided you can live with the narrower beam. I recommend the Dorcy over the Luxeon if you want a flashlight for general purpose use around the house. Around my house, I find myself picking up this one more often because of its wider beam. I might change my mind on this recommendation depending on how long the battery lasts for me.
