Love this flashlight.,

Bought this light after much searching and comparing amongst other LED rechargeables. I must say that I am very pleased. The flashlight is extremely bright - certainly more than enough for my round-the-house, round-the-car needs. It is also lite and quite sturdy. Charge quality is very good. I let it charge overnight once and it is still going strong after several months of occasional household use with no noticable drop in brightness. The flashlight comes with two chargers, one for the car and one for the house. Both plug into a small headphone jack-sized port. This port is hidden under an aluminum collar just below the activation switch. This collar can be unscrewed, moving about an inch down the body of the light, revealing the receptacle. From there, you plug and are good to go. I am already pondering a second one of these for the upstairs - maybe another for the car. For the price I am not sure you can do much better.

If I were rating this light on build quality as well as the quality and quantity of light I would give it five stars. However, the battery supplied is a NiCad which suffers from memory problems. The recommendation is to fully discharge the battery before recharging. Therefore having a fully charged light available for any emergency of use is prevented. I wish it were powered with a LiIon battery which does not suffer from memory problems and can be topped off any time necessary. Other than the battery it's excellent.

I purchased this flashlight in May 2009 and I've found it to be an excellent household flashlight. It has a nice wide beam, quite a bit wider than my other LED-based flashlights and is very bright.
Its main flaw is its battery system. It has a rechargeable NiCad battery that is a non-standard size and has a dumb (non-smart) charger. If you like to keep the flashlight charged and ready, the battery will tend to develop memory and a short charge life. Because the battery is not a standard size, you can't replace the battery with standard cells, nor can you charge the battery in a smart standard charger (like the La Crosse Technology BC-9009 AlphaPower Battery Charger) which would keep your NiCads in good shape. I also own the Luxeon Rebel 80 Smith and Wesson Luxeon Rebel 5 Watt Tactical Flashlight. That one doesn't have as wide a beam but uses standard batteries. It is more compact, somewhat more rugged, uses standard batteries, but has a narrower more focused beam. I recommend the Luxeon over the Dorcy if you need a flashlight for camping or travel or if you want standard-sized batteries, provided you can live with the narrower beam. I recommend the Dorcy over the Luxeon if you want a flashlight for general purpose use around the house. Around my house, I find myself picking up this one more often because of its wider beam. I might change my mind on this recommendation depending on how long the battery lasts for me.

Dorcy International 41-4299 220-Lumens Rechargeable LED Flashlight with AC and DC Charging Adaptors
I use flashlights daily for my work as a local branch manager for one of the largest pest control companies here in the U.S. I have had the Dorcy 41-4299 Flashlight for about two weeks now, which I have used daily, and have to say it has impressed me and my co-workers. I can truely compare it to the Stinger Rechargeable and the Mag Rechargable flashlights that I have used for years. Both are great flashlights, but they do cost about $100 each, the Dorcy 41-4299 is less than $50. So here is my comparison. 1) I love the Cost: at about 1/2 the cost of the comparison lights above it is very affordable. 2) It is very light weight and well designed/fits your hand great: Compared to the other two listed above. 3) It is very bright: Even though it is an LED it is brighter than the Stinger Light I have, but not hardly as bright as the Mag light. (But a lot lighter to carry) 4) It is made from the same materials as the other lights listed above, high grade aluminum. It is as sturdy as they are in construction. (Just a lot lighter) Bottom line this flashlight impressed me with its bright light, light weight, sturdy built, and the fit to my hand at a price of 1/2 of what I normally pay for a high quality rechargeable flashlight.

Not a good product,
This review is from: Dorcy International 41-4299 220-Lumens Rechargeable LED Flashlight with AC and DC Charging Adaptors (Tools & Home Improvement)
We live in an area of the desert southwest which is heavily infested with rattlesnakes and consequently we must have an extremely good, reliable flashlight when outside at night. Indeed, the Dorcy International 41-4299 is an incredibly bright flashlight, but as others have also said, one drawback is having to completely drain the battery before recharging it. I got a spare battery in order to always have a fully charged one on hand. But that is not my gripe. I had owned my first Dorcy 41-4299 for only a couple of months when outside one evening I noticed the head of the flashlight seemed a little loose. A few minutes later it broke off. The flashlight had never been dropped, abused, or had rough treatment. I called Dorcy's customer service number about the problem and they promptly sent a replacement. I had been using the replacement for several months when I noticed the beam was becoming increasingly more dim even though I was using a fully charged battery. Since my first replacement they seem to have discontinued a customer service phone number, so I e-mailed Dorcy thinking the bulb might be going bad and I could not find replacement bulbs for this particular flashlight on their website. They replied it is an LED and there is no replacement bulb. After several e-mails back and forth, they ask me to return the defective one and agreed to send another replacement. I'm still waiting to receive the replacement for the replacement. I can understand one item being faulty, but with the second one also being faulty in a different way, I question the quality of this product. I will add that their customer service people have been extremely pleasant, but you might think twice before spending money on this flashlight and research other brands.

This is a very well constructed flashlight with an immensely bright beem. Its downfall however, as stated in previous reviews, is the NiCad battery which can not stay on the charger indefinitely. I was hoping that this light would come with a base or that I could at least rigg one so that I could mount it in my truck and have a good light handy when I needed it. The fact that I can't leave it plugged in makes this light bad for that application but, I don't regret buying it because it does make a good household light.

I just purchased the Dorcy 41-4299 and it is a excellent flashlight. The only problem is the Ni-Cad battery so purchased a spare battery at dorcydirect.com for only [...] . I also bought a holster for [...] both reasonable prices. It comes with both an A/C and car charger. It was delivered from Amazon in only two days via regular shipping.
As for the output, it is certainly as advertised. I have just begun collecting flashlights and this one is a keeper. I compared the Dorcy to my Fenix TK-11 R2 tactical flashlight which I purchased for [...]; twice the price. The R2 is a much smaller tactical flashlight (5" in length) and runs on two CR123A batteries (expensive), it is advertised to have 240 lumens of output and throws the beam over 200 meters. The R2 is a wonderful flashlight; compact and very bright. I tested both outside and the R2's beam reaches the advertised 200M but the beam is not extremely focused at that distance. It has a much wider coverage area than the Dorcy so the light seems to dissipate (more of a flood than a spot). In contrast, the Dorcy seemed to do much better at distance; the beam of light is very strong and focused at 200M, giving a very bright white, concentrated light. I'm assuming that this is due to the size of the reflector. I measured both; the Dorcy 41-4299 has a 2" reflector, the Fenix R2 a 1" reflector. The look of the 41-4299 is very nice. It has a solid button switch on the side of the light. I don't really like the cover to the charging hole because it does not close tightly and can 'jiggle' but it isn't that big a deal. I also have the Dorcy 41-4269 160 lumen flashlight which I purchased for about[...]. For [...]more, get the 41-4299. It's a no brainer and you get a car charger. If you don't mind the size of the Dorcy 41-4299 (8 3/4" length) it is an excellent buy.

Dorcy was smart in there design, as it looks like it takes advantage of the upper end of a parabolic curve to get a tight long throw of a focused beam, combined with the K2 Luxeon at 220-Lumens that gives you the power to light the night with great distance.
I find the fit in your hand is great! and the knurling makes it easy to hold on to, It has a quick threaded cover for the jack that is used to re-charge your flashlight, thus keeping dirt and debris out. When shopping for a LED flashlight it was important to me to get allot of lumens for a good price! - as far as I see it Dorcy fits the bill better than anyone else :) Comes with 120v plug in charger that is small and light, plus a 12VDC. aux. plug adapter for on the go.

Good LED Flashlight,

Good LED light for the money. Charge lasts a long while yet the full brightness declines quickly. Great for around the house or in the garage. Not really a TAC light as it's larger than most I've had with no carry clip. WIth the accompanied accessories and the brightness of the light - you will not be disappointed. I also use it as a lantern light as well. Turn it on, stand it up and the whole room is lit for low light activity. It would be great for a tent or other camping activities. I tested it to see how long it would last: turned it on, sat it in the garage overnight and the next morning it was still lit. Albeit dimmed, I was impressed it was still kicking along. The fact that expensive batteries aren't required is a big plus in my book. Anyway, if you're looking for a good LED light for around the house and general activities, you can't go wrong here. You'll be impressed with the brightness, durability and longevity.

After reading numerous reviews, I was expecting a good quality & high-output flashlight at 220 Lumens. But as my daughter would write, "OMG".. this is by far the best available for price, light output, weight, power consumption and even AC/DC rechargeable to boot! Dorcy products simply are the best I've gotten to date. There very likely could be more ordered in our future!
