Did you ever think you would have the chance to read a great book for teenagers.Well, now's your chance!!This is about a totally huge dorky guy named Jerry. He had bright orange hair and very dumb looking glasses but he threw away his glasses so he could look cool for his new school. He was about twelve years old and in 6th grade. Jerry tried to be cool in his new school so he wouldn't get picked on anymore. He was very likable.A lot of people would be friends with him. Jerry was very friendly and wasn't mean. He liked people that were intelligent but now he was looking for some cool group to join in. In this story he is doing some serious lying and crazy stuff! READ TO FIND OUT!! YOU GUYS SHOULD READ THIS STUFF.IT'S VERY HILARIOUS!! AND IT'S FOR TEENAGERS!!!

Dork in Disguise,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Dork in Disguise (Hardcover)
Have you ever been a dork, and one day your parents tell you that you are moving? What would you do? Well, I know what Jerry Flack is doing. He's studying on how to be cool. He's been working all summer on how to be a cool kid in his new school. What happens next is all in the story of Dork in Disguise by Carol Gorman.Jerry is starting the sixth grade in Nathaniel Hawthorne Middle School, where no one knows him, and he doesn't know anyone. As his mother drops him off, he quickly removes his glasses, so he doesn't look like a geek. Of course, now the whole world is blurry. He manages to find his way to his first class a girl asks him "shouldn't you have your glasses on?" The blurry girl introduces herself as Brenda. She noticed that he was squinting and had marks on his nose from his glasses. Jerry tells her that he doesn't like wearing his glasses. Through most of the book Jerry keeps trying to be someone he's not. On the inside, and to the reader, Jerry admits that he's telling lies and not being himself. In the end, he learns a valuable lesson. I think this is a good book because it has a lot of interesting twists and turns, and keeps your attention. Most of the time it seems a lot like real life in middle school with the problems that a lot of kids face.

The Dork in Disguise,

This review is from: Dork in Disguise (Harper Trophy Books) (Paperback)
I personally thought this story was great. It was a comedy with a twist of romance in there as well. Jerry Flack gets a new school, a new house, and new friends, and hopefully a new reputation. He has always been a geek, a nerd, a dork, and what everelse comes to mind to the kids who torment him constantly. With the help of his new friend, Brenda he turns his whole life around. Brenda helps him , talk the talk , walk the walk , but most importantly helps him look the look. Wil the "cool" kids accept him in his new school? Will he get Cinnamon to go to the fair with him? Read the book to find out !

This review is from: Dork in Disguise (Harper Trophy Books) (Paperback)
Jerry Flack used to be a total dork. When he moves to a new town and a new school Jerry is totally convinced that he is going to be popular and cool.So the whole summer he researches everything he think it takes for him to be cool. So on the firsst day of school things go pretty well for him except for Brenda. She sees right through his cool guy act and decides that she will help him get to be really cool. Jerry is doing pretty good and all the cool guys are starting to become Jerry's friend, even Cinnomon the most beautiful and most poplular girl in school is starting to notice and talk to Jerry. But soon Jerry realises that being cool isn't all that every one says it is andJerry finds himself caught up in a web of lies. So now Jerry has to figure out what is more imprtant to him being the most popular boy in school and dating the most beautiful and most popular girl in school or being happy.I think that this book is pretty good because it shows real insidents with real kids and how they would have to cope with there situations.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Dork in Disguise (Harper Trophy Books) (Paperback)
A boy named Jerry Flack is starting junior high and he really wants to change his whole personality just to be popular. He was used to being the big science nerd of his elementry school and now he would try so hard to be like the popular Gabe, who is the cool skateborder and Cinnamon, the most beautiful girl in school. He wants to be just like them, hang out with them, and be known throughout the school just like them.He later meets his best friend named Brenda who tries to teach him that he is cool in his own way and that he didn't have to be like everyone else to prove that. Jerry goes through some pretty hard times to figure that out. But to figure out the rest you need to read this wonderful book. It might even teach you that you need to be your own person and that everyone is cool in their own way. This book was wonderful to be an it will be for you too. |
