I have nothing for praise for the SyFy Channel, Mark Burnett and the Jarrett Creative Group. They did an amazing job of re-creating the horrific events that my college friends and I experienced back in SUNY Geneseo in the winter of 1985. I had strong reservations about having this life-changing experience shared via mass media (and by hands other than my own). But now I can look back and be very satisfied with the choice I made in trusting these talented folks. They shared my experience with care and accuracy. I am sure that It was quite difficult trying to effectively squeeze 75+ days of events (involving over a dozen students) into a cohesive 1-hour show. But they managed to capture the 'feel' of being there - from the 1980's-style opening song, to the terror of being physically attacked by the ghost, to the difficulty in trying to find someone to help. Yes, I took the ghost photo, yes John Jeff captured the ghost on tape and yes a priest blessed our room. If you want to experience what an extreme haunting is like, this is a safe way to do it. I wish I had that option!

This is my new favorite paranormal series. I find myself getting goosebumps, I frequently jump and the hair on the back of my neck stands on end. In other words, great scary, eerie series.

This show, regardless of whether you believe every story or not is certainly a great source of entertainment. It's done quite well, and narrated by the actual students/former students. If you love ghost stories, you'll love this show. I have a blog that is on the paranormal, and so far our readers love show.

I discovered all the ghost and paranormal shows about three years ago...Animal Planet, Travel Channel, the Bio Channel, and this one from Syfy. I have to say, I enjoy watching them esp. Celebrity Ghost Stories and My Ghost Story and Ghostly Encounters, but most of them do not actually scare me per se, however I have to compliment the way this one is produced and presented, it truly is scary!
One of the episodes has two co-eds sharing a dorm room and they wake up in the middle of the night to see a silhouette of a man with his back to them, sitting on the cot between their two beds. Then you see the "man" turn around and stare at them! And the episode where the girl gets up at 5:30am to go to swim practice and has to walk through the campus and comes across a very tall man standing in the distance, though no men are allowed to be unescorted at this girl's school.
I cannot believe that these stories are not true, since they actually name the schools and the students are named as well, and all of them are recent graduates or current students! It does not make sense to me that these stories are false since the student's and schools reputations are at stake. However I can understand someone not believing them if something supernatural has never happened to them or someone close to them. I am hoping there is a second season and have been scouring amazon.com and tvshowsondvd.com for an official DVD release.

Despite what others think, I found this very entertaining & believable. It would be nice if they would make another season, but I'm not holding my breath on this one.

From the music, well executed reenactments and the impressive special effects to the incredibly meaningful, gripping accounts by the people who actually went through the haunting at their college in the 1980s . . . this was 5 stars for me all the way.
