***THIS ITEM DOES NOT FIT THE 1.6 L ENGINE***
I recently had to return this item to Amazon. While there is nothing wrong with the item itself, please bear in mind that the DORMAN 696-601 Air intake hose advertised on this page is designed for the 1.8L and 2.0L engines and DOES NOT fit the 1.6L Mazda Protege engine, even though the Amazon product page specifically says that it does! The correct part for the 1.6L engine is the 696-604 air intake hose from DORMAN, which, at the time of this review is not available as a prime eligible item on Amazon.

Our auto air intake hose was a dealer only replacement item, cost of $100 after searching we found site for "Dorman" which makes dealer replacement parts, the hose was eaxacly as our origninal down to part number moleded in hose. this is a great replacement at more
than 1/2 off the dealer price.
