I recently had to return this item to Amazon. While there is nothing wrong with the item itself, please bear in mind that the DORMAN 696-601 Air intake hose advertised on this page is designed for the 1.8L and 2.0L engines and DOES NOT fit the 1.6L Mazda Protege engine, even though the Amazon product page specifically says that it does!

The correct part for the 1.6L engine is the 696-604 air intake hose from DORMAN, which, at the time of this review is not available as a prime eligible item on Amazon.

I ordered this and it fit my Mazda Protege 5 perfect! Very easy to install.... only took a few minutes.... Saved me lots of money!

Our auto air intake hose was a dealer only replacement item, cost of $100 after searching we found site for "Dorman" which makes dealer replacement parts, the hose was eaxacly as our origninal down to part number moleded in hose. this is a great replacement at more
than 1/2 off the dealer price.

This part was a direct fit for my Mazda Protege5 2003 vehicle and all you needed to do was unscrew the 2 clamps on each side and take out the tube that is connected to the air filter housing and replace. No more worries.

Nice replacement for my cracked air hose. Much softer than the stock item, one slot not as secure as the original but that's nit picking.

Cost effective and works well.

Perfect fit and about 1/3 the price from the Mazda dealer. Too bad it came in such a big box from Amazon.

The original air intake hose for our 2002 Mazda Protege cracked in half. When I called the dealer for a replacement hose, I was surprised that they wanted over $55 for a new one. Thankfully, I found one on Amazon that fit the bill. It was a perfect fit for about half the price. NOTE: When selecting a hose, BE SURE that you select one to match the size of your engine. I think that the Mazda Protege offered two different engine sizes. The shape of the hose will differ between the two.

Perfect fit for a 2002 Mazda Protege LX. Very easy to install -- my dad popped it in in less than fifteen minutes. So glad I could find it through Amazon :) I only had to wait two days to fix my car instead of searching dealers for the part.

Perfect fit for 2002 protege5. Car loses power at highway speeds and does not run well, may feel like it wants to stall, if this part is torn or damaged. OEM replacement - took 5 minutes - anyone can do it.

It is easy to install and at a great price,Fit perfectly in a Mazda Protege 2000SL, 1.8cm3. Keep in mind that the screws in your car may be rusted then you should lubricate them, and thats it.
Realmente fácil de instalar y a un excelente precio, encaja perfectamente en Mazda Protege 2000Sl, 1.8cm3. Los tornillos de tu auto podrían estar oxidados sólo lubrica los y los podrás quitar fácilmente.
