The Dormer A097 variable-length, TiN-tipped, general-purpose, round-shank drill bit set, offers a set of drills to drills holes into a wide variety of metals and synthetic materials. It can drill to a depth up to four times the diameter of the drill size. The shank diameter is the same as the drill size.
The A097 series has a type N flute form, with a regular helix (21 to 34 degrees) angle and with a special Dormer PS point geometry which offer easier workpiece penetration, improved hole size, and accurate centering when starting the hole. The TiN finish is a gold-colored ceramic coating that is hard and has low friction, permitting faster cutting speeds than uncoated materials. The jobber length offers a good compromise between reach and rigidity.
This set has the following options: Style 18, tool type A012, number in set 29, and set sizes 1/16 – 1/2 x 1/64; style 20, tool type A012, number in set 15, sizes 1/16 – 1/2 x 1/32; style 60, tool type A012, number in set 13, sizes 1/16 – 1/4 x 1/64; style 12, tool type A012, number in set 60, sizes Nr. 1 – Nr. 60; style 14, tool type A012, number in set 26, sizes A to Z; style 30, tool type A012, number in set 115, sizes 1/16 – 1/2 x 1/64, Nr. 1 – Nr. 60, A to Z.
Drilling, or hole making, is the most common metalworking operation in the world. Twist drill bits are the most common type of drill bit used. Twist drill bits can be used in hand-operated drills, standalone drill presses, or a lathe. They are made to ANSI industry standards, which ensure that drill bits around the world, confirm to the same specifications.
Precision manufactures machine tools under the following brands: Precision Twist, Precision Dormer, and Union Butterfield. The company has locations around the world, and provides tools adhering to ANSI, NAS, and DIN standards.
