soul of Afro-Latino people,
By A Customer
This review is from: Dos (Audio CD)
For those who love Afro-Cuban music and are familiar with Cacahao's music are going to enjoy this album. The wooden flute sounds great and the percussion makes you feel like moving your body in a slow and natural rhythm similar to those ancient people who loved themselves and whose drums connected them with the heart of our planet. In the song 'Centro San Agustin' you can feel and almost hear the beautiful sounds that come from the peoples heart in a village square. Cachao's music is the epitome of the wonderful culture that was born from centuries of love, hate, war, peace, destruction, forgiveness, passion, and tropical beauty.

cachao always different,
This review is from: Dos (Audio CD)
Not as easy to listen as other Cachao's disc, but still (and always) amazing and innovative music. The best of all Centro san Agustin and the spelling Wo-ko. Cannot get a better band... Julito Collazo, Charlie Palmieri, Alfredo de la Fe, Manny Oquendo, Negro Vivar..plus...plus... what else can you ask for.

All star lineup, as usual, this time including Charlie Palmieri on several selections. Salsoul re-issue of a late 70's recording.

Israel "Cachao" Lopez was a true giant of Cuban music.,

This review is from: Dos (Audio CD)
This 1977-released album on Salsoul Records is credited to the legendary Israel "Cachao" Lopez and is really a must-have for any serious Salsa collection but it's well worth mentioning that many members of Conjunto Libre (Manny Oquendo, Jerry Gonzalez, Andy Gonzalez, Dave Valentin, etc.) are also featured here and their distinctive playing is very much discernable. The African-influenced "Ko-Wo, Ko-Wo", the absolutely gorgeous and elegant "Jovenes Del Ritmo" and the all-out descarga "Chabelona" are your reasons for getting this CD. This may not be Israel "Cachao" Lopez' most well-known album but you really should get it if you can find it.
