Product Description

Dos Rios

From the Manufacturer

Two mighty rivers wind their way down from the mountains. The fields through which they flow are fruitful, bringing wealth to their owners. Harvest fields with campesinos, gathering riches to build homes and create a prosperous estate. The rivers are the life blood of the land. With skillful placement of dams, you can alter the course of the rivers and bring prosperity to your land. That which was dry will now produce, that which was productive may now be barren. The one who best controls the rivers will control the valley, for the flow of the river carries fortune's tide. This family strategy board game is for 2-4 players, ages 12 and up. It takes about 60 minutes to play.

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful By William S. Oetting on December 12, 2007
A fun game of harvesting and building casas and haciendas. It takes a few games to get the rules down, but afterward it is a fun game and does take about an hour to play. I particularly like the fact that the board will be different every time you play making a fail-safe startegy pretty much impossible. I also enjoy the idea that you know what your next few harvests will be so that you can plan for multiple rounds in one turn. The winner is usually the one who figures out the best way to dam the river to make sure that they receive the best harvesting thereby being able to build the most buildings.

This is a fun game. It is not complex in terms of game play, but like most good games, determining an effective strategy can be very challenging. The general concept is very creative and unique. I generally play strategy games with a group of friends from time to time, and Dos Rios is very popular with our group. In terms of complexity and enjoyment, I think this game is in the same league as Acquire.

This is a great 3 person game and can be played in under 90 minutes easily. My experience is that adding a 4th person really slows down the game and lengthens the playing time considerably. So we usually just play Dos Rios when we have 3 people, and play other games when we have more than that. For 3 people, it's really hard to beat this game.
