I have seen this movie on vhs and i think its a classic.
Pedro Infante and Jorge Negrete,two mexican super stars,
are at their prime.
Great songs,good acting from everybody and just one very funny movie.
The movie is a comedy with some drama.
Its about two friends in love with two girls but because of
circumtances beyond their control both couples break up.
A year later Jorge visits the town on business and finds out that his best friend Pedro has married jorge's ex girlfriend.
But pedro is still in love with his original girlfriend who happens to be jorge's sister.
Highly recommended for its songs,acting and humor and moral concept.

WARNING: Avoid this DVD version of the film because it is unrestored and of very poor visual and audio quality. Look instead for the DVD with a BLUE cover because it is has restored video and sound and includes scenes not found on the unrestored DVD.

SYNOPSIS: This marvelous 1952 romantic comedy, directed by Ismael Rodriguez, is representative of Mexico's golden age of cinema and brings together Jorge Negrete and Pedro Infante. Negrete's operatic voice and dashing persona contrasts nicely with Pedro Infante's warm, romantic voice and charismatic persona. Jorge Bueno and Pedro Malo are best friends who consider giving up their womanizing ways when they each fall in love. As fate would have it, Pedro Malo unexpectedly marries Jorge Bueno's girlfriend, and the conflict between the former buddies begins. A year later they find themselves in the same town and confront each other once and for all. The music is beautiful and the sparks fly as they learn a good lesson about love and true friendship.

I have seen this movie many times and wanted to get it for the longest time. Unfortunately it is not what I was hoping to get. First, the 'previews' are all for american movies.... This is a mexican movie! Because they are old they don't have 'previews'!. Second, the movie gets cut often, like the songs are not complete, the beginning is more like a bunch of sequences cut together instead of the actual beginning. I definitely did not like this purchase. I purchased another movie from the same time period with the same actor, (Pedro Infante), and that movie was awesome. It had no 'previews', the movie was complete and in the menu it had a lot of 'extras'. It was also cheaper than this movie.
The movie did show up on time, that's about the only good thing.

Pedro playin the bad boy again against Jorge trying to be bitter and nobel at the same time. A good comedrama story with absolutely top-notch performances by Pedro and Jorge- like they were born for these parts.

I loved this movie. it was very funny and entertaining. Pedro and Jorge were both great in their roles. I am glad I bought the movie. the music was great. it gets five stars from me.

Just in case you get scared by the 1-star review... Yes, the movie is in the DVD after the previews. I also had some choice words for the folks who had the brilliant marketing idea of not letting us skip the previews before the movie.

The movie itself is a gem- the only movie that Pedro & Jorge played in together- and it's great to see what I imagine to be a bit of their real-life rivalry and friendship on-screen. This is the 1st movie of Jorge's that I've seen, and I was impressed. Who else could possibly be a match for Pedro? They do battle (and if you don't know what they are fighting over, then I would have to ask, "Why are you buying this movie?") with their music and their fists- and, as the translation of the title predicts- they are two guys to watch out for. If you're a Pedro Infante fan, then I guarantee you won't be disappointed with this movie. There are adequate subtitles in Spanish and English- which is very nice if you are a student of Spanish, as I am.

I agree with some of the comments about the movie previews. It's pretty lame that they force you to watch them every single time you want to watch the movie. Setting the previews aside, this movie is hilarious. It is well worth the 13 or 14 bucks.

After inserting this DVD in the DVD player, I got a (pretty long) advertisement for some movie... and then another one... and then another one...

I tried to get to the main menu, but the DVD won't allow it, if you want to see this movie, then you HAVE to go through who knows how many "previews" of other movies. You cannot fast forward, or skip them.

Is the movie "Dos tipos de cuidado" really in this DVD? I don't know, I did not have the patience to wait and find out. After an incredible long time of going through movie previews, I took the DVD and trashed it.

Avoid this DVD, it is just a collection of movie previews, and you are FORCED to watch them if you (unlike me) have the patience to wait until the movie that you paid to watch actually shows.
