Product Description

The HD P-TTL Off-Camera Flash Coiled Extension Cord is an extremely useful accessory for Pentax Digital SLR cameras, allowing an external flash to be used away from the camera. The flash can be located as far as 3 feet away from the camera and still perform all the automatic functions possible with flash photography. Using an off-camera flash provides the photographer with the flexibility to direct light from a variety of angles, allowing simple but effective fill lighting for balancing outdoor shots or hiding shadows under harsh indoor lights. An off-camera flash is also an effective primary light source when less direct lighting is desired.

I purchased one of these cords for use in a wedding a found out that it will not work well with my Pentax K10D and my Sigma EF-530 DG. The zoom works and the auto focus assist lights up but the flash will not fire. The pins do not make solid contacts on the flash cords side to the cameras flash shoe.

I bought this less than a month ago and only have used it once. It works well on my Pentax K10D with Sigma Flash. It doesn't seem to reach as far as I thought it would. Also the wire on one of the ends is beginning to come out of the plastic. I wrapped it up with electrical tape but not sure how long it is going to last. Might just switch to a wireless flash.

The P-TTL Off-Camera Flash Extension when used with my Pentax AF-540FGZ Flash, I could not achieve P-TTL function.

When I change the focal distance on my lens, my flash remained at fixed focal distance. However, when I mount the flash on my K20D hot shoe. There is no issue.

Since the contact points between K20D hot shoe & P-TTL Off-Camera Shoe Flash Extension Cord are the same. I cannot find the cause why my flash did not change focal distance accordingly.
