excellent singer who deserves an international career,

Edyta Gorniak ended second in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1994 with "To nie ja", which is one of my least favourite songs on this album. She has a very nice voice, and despite the fact that most of the songs are ballads (which I don't particularly like) I like listening to this CD. Best songs are the up-tempo title track, rock ballad "Litania" and especially jazzy "Kasztany". A shame she changed to English, since Polish is such a beautiful language to listen to (even though I don't understand a thing she sings)!

Great Debut,

Edyta is one of the greatest female artists of all-time. The strength of her voice is so amazing that definitely makes her the greatest diva of all.
"Dotyk" ("The Touch") is her debut album - released only in Poland in 1995. It was a huge success (over half-million units sold). Single "To nie ja" ("It's Not Me") is there the biggest hit of 1994 and the single "Dotyk" ("The Touch") is the biggest hit of 1995. The other hits are "Jestem kobieta" ("I'm A Woman"), "Bede snila" ("I Will Dream") and songs from the most popular musicals in Polish history, in which she performed - "Litania" ("Litany") from "Metro" ("Subway") and "Kasztany" ("Chestnuts") from "Do grajacej szafy grosik wrzuc" ("Throw A Coin To The Jukebox"). After releasing that album Edyta got many proposals from major record companies all over the world. Then she signed a record deal on three albums with worldwide distribution and began her international career with a help from Christopher Neil, who previously discovered other "local star" Celine Dion. Like you see every Edyta's fan must have this album!

"Dotyk," Polish singer Edyta Gorniak's debut solo CD, is first-class. Richly produced, with inspired instrumental contributions, its diverse songs either blaze with impassioned vitality or smolder with a caressing warmth. Edyta's vocals are truly magmatic: sometimes they're volcanically gushing skyward; other times they're molten and flowing down like lava. The songs alternately project imagery of Edyta either clutching a flickering candle or brandishing a flaming torch. "Dotyk" is an artistic achievement of the highest order.

Edyta touches our hearts with "Dotyk",

Edyta Gorniak is Poland's greatest vocalist and one of the best singers in the world; had she been born in the U.S., she would've been as huge as Mariah or Celine. Edyta's voice is just as rich as theirs, but unlike the "divas", she doesn't tend to sing over the top, so while listening to her, we're pleased with strong, powerful vocals, however not harmful to our ears. Throughout every song, Edyta tells the story, delivers a message and a whole variety of emotions. Twists and turns - that's what Edyta's best at - one moment she may seem delicate and vulnerable, just to showcase her true strength unexpectedly and give you chills. No wonder Edyta was chosen for a singing voice of Pocahontas in Polish version of one of the greatest Disney classics. By the way, she did a marvellous job - just listen to it and you'll be taken your breath away. What's more, Edyta was a star of the best known Polish musical, Metro, which even made it to Broadway in the 90's! With the song "To nie ja" (featured on the "Dotyk" cd) Edyta nearly won Eurovision Song Contest, gaining the second place and shining brighter than anyone.
Edyta is a fenomenal singer, relatively recognized in Europe, but practically unknown in the Amercan market - obviously the hardest one to conquer. I'm not going to write a blow-by-blow review of her debut cd, "Dotyk" ("The Touch"), for the music speaks for itself. All the tunes are memorable and the vocals are top-notch; Edyta has this rare quality; the awareness of her voice and the ability to consciously use it, which makes listening to her music an unforgettable experience of diving into Edyta's spirit, heart and soul. If you want to hear Edyta sing in English, check out her international albums, "Edyta Gorniak" and "Invisible". Just give her a credit and you won't be disappointed!

Edyta became popular when she appeared in the Polish musical "Metro." Her popularity reached its peak when she was chosen to represent Poland in the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest in Dublin, where she finished second with "To nie ja" (It's not me), the song that most of all portrays her vocal abilities. This CD is her debut one. It includes, naturally, the ESC song, her solo songs from "Metro," a Polish version to Jacques Brel's "Ne me quitte pas" and new songs that were written for this album. I love this album! However, it might be difficult to define its style - Pop is probably the best word.

Hello,my name is Agnieszka and I'm from Poland. I like Edyta Górniak very much and I thing she is the best singer in our country. Her first song "To nie ja byłam Ewą" conquered Poland. It so sad that she record her album in UK. But I continually admire her.
