Although I had some initial concerns about not buying a name brand, I haven't had any regrets so far!

Everything about it was just 2nd rate and you can really tell why it is so cheap when you use it.

BE WARNED:
If you are not mechanically inclined this is not the saw for you. Then again, if you are not mechanically inclined, you have little to no business buying a sliding compound mitre saw in the first place. This thing required everything to be reset, adjusted and dialed in.

Firstly, ditch the blade. I didnt even spin the saw up before replacing it because if there is one common theme among reviews, its that the blade is abysmal. I replaced with a dewalt 80T because I got a good deal on a three pack.

Next, align the fence. Mine was off by a good bit. Loosen it up, square it to the blade with a square, then dial in with a test cut, and flip the board over to see if the angle is still off.

Then, align the set screw stop for the bevel. There's a movable blockout lever which allows you to select single bevel (to the left) or double bevel with no stop at 90. Make sure the lever is tight, then adjust the set screw to ensure the blade is cutting at 90 where the stop is. I was lucky that the angle markings were right on after this. You may need to adjust the pointer somehow, or just compensate mentally for a degree or two difference.

The laser on mine was adjusted all the way to the left, but it actually indicated the right side of the blade. I am used to the laser indicating the left side, but its not that big a deal. I may add an aftermarket centrifugal blade mounted laser so that it indicated *both* sides of the blade.

The sliding / removable left upper fence was a little bent, but a few measured blows with a mallet on my garage floor fixed that - part removed from saw, of course. Truthfully, I have never, and likely will never use an upper fence.

I had a coupon to buy this say at Harbor Freight (119.99)- so as the wife has a list of over 13 projects for me to do around the house, I decided now was the time to buy.

Out of the box the saw cut true and square - granted I haven't had a chance to run it through it's full capabilities - but 2x4's and 2x6's are no problem - angles yep it does that - you want to put up crown molding - yep this saw is the one for you (porviding you remember the upside down and backwards trick for crown molding)

The saw can handle up to 16" on a straight cut - or 12" on an angle

If you are on the fence abut buying a miter saw - go ahead and pull the trigger on this one

I would reccomend this saw over ANY 10" saw - - always, alwyas, always buy as big as you can - as it's better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it

UPDATE 4/16/2014
I've been doing some DIY project it seems all year - However, I just finished putting a roof (12x24) to cover my patio. During the time I was working on the project, I left the saw set up under an E-Z UP, and had the saw attached to a stand. Several times while cutting some of the boards - I got a sever kickback, one time it broke off the laser completely. Also during this time, the wind blew the saw and stand over completely - once breaking off the lever that locks the saw down for storage.

I was nice being able to cut a 4 degree end on my ceiling joist, and after a NEW BLADE (original is cheap) it cut like a hot knife through butter, even on 2x10's.

Today I was cutting some rawhide bones in half for my dog (as he just buries them)and another kick back - this time it broke the fence.

I have no problems with the power the saw provides - however the quality of the material its made of SUCKS!

I was excited to grab this. I have been drooling over the Dewalt 12" Double bevel for years, but I haven't been willing to pay the hefty price (this was considerably cheaper on sale). I have only had this a couple of days, but have started running it through some tests.

To start off, this is very comfortable to use. Ergonomically, everything seems put together well. I am not forced into awkward positions to try and hold the work piece while cutting. The bevel slides smoothly and the stops are true.

I like that it has support extensions on the sides, they will come in handy when I lug this beast out of my workshop. I don't see using them in my shop because I plan to fit the saw into one of my workbenches and have 3' of support on either side.

If you have been hesitating on purchasing this saw, I would say go for it. Most of the time you can find it on sale in the 120 to 150 range. At that price you can't go wrong.

Verified Purchase
I bought this saw because I can't afford a higher end tool with the same features. That said, I've been very pleased with it's performance. Out of the box the saw moved fine in all directions and the miter angles were dead accurate at 0 and both 45 degree angles. Others have commented that the shipping threw off the alignment, but that wasn't the case for me. Compound angles were also accurate, but make sure you have a protractor and a straight edge to test everything.

The fence was also square to the blade right out of the box. I was able to cut a picture frame with mitered corners without any major adjustments to the tool.

The stock 60T blade cut smoothly and would probably be fine for basic cuts, but plan on spending some extra cash on a better blade if you're going to be doing any finishing work. As others have noted, the dust bag is pretty much useless, but there are ways around that.

Overall, I'm happy with the purchase. Although I had some initial concerns about not buying a name brand, I haven't had any regrets so far!
