This is a really good, fast paced story. The main character gets into so many binds that you want to scream at him not to make that next mistake, which of course he does. Beautiful women lead him into dangerous situations, because he is human enough to let desire make his decisions, instead of his obvious intelligence. Who hasn't been there?

The plot is ingenious but plausible, and the tempo is unrelenting. If the main character can learn from his mistakes, he could easily become the basis for a series. I hope he can, because I would like to read more about him. No, the guy isn't related to me, but he could be based on the mistakes in judgement he makes.

I picked up "Double Blind" by Geoff Loftus because I wanted a fun summer read. It more than hit the mark and would have been just as good any time of year. The book's gripping opening reminded me why I have an aversion to tall buildings and the plot had enough twists and turns to keep up a good pace. For history buffs, there was a fringe benefit--lots of interesting factoids and trivia were sprinkled throughout the book by the protagonist. Loftus has a good ear for dialogue and keeps you turning the page with his action sequences. I look forward to seeing more novels from Mr. Loftus in the near future.

Geoff Loftus is the new James Lee Burke. This is a rip-snorting, action packed thriller set against and among New York City, the most exciting city in the world, with a twist. This protagonist, Peter Galligan, has an interior. From the first to the last exciting page, you always know what's in his mind, how he got from here to there and what's driving him. He's likable and knowable; he's you and me. (Well, he's taller than I am.) Once I picked it up I was really sorry that I had to go to bed that night. I couldn't put it down and finished it the next day. I would compare the elegance of the writing to Donna Leon and the action to James Lee Burke. I can't wait until Mr. Loftus comes out with his next.

I started this book at 10:00 PM and could not put it down. Fours hours later and bleary eyed I finally hit a "stopping point", if there is one in this book. I could hardly wait to finish the next day's work to come back to the book. Two short hours later I was done. Double Blind is extremely well written, very readable and full of action. So many twists and turns that I lost count. The comparison to Tom Clancy and others is right on. I can't wait until Geoff's next book.

Awesome novel. I loved the way this book hooked me from the beginning. So full of action, some suspense and even thrills. I absolutely love Peter with his sense of humor. The characters are very good. I really got caught up with every thing that was going on. I didn't know what would happen next. The story was well written. A definite add to your tbr list. Recommended!!
