1.0 out of 5 stars Finally
OMG, I FINALLY finished this book. I have read most of Darrien Lee's books but for some reason, this one was hard for me to get into. It dragged on and on and on. It was not able to hold my attention. It just didn't have that umph. I liked the success of the characters and how they all related and got along with each other but the story was just boring to me.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Double Crossed (Paperback)
I have been a Darrien Lee fan since I pick up "All That and A Bag of Chips" and the title alone is what grap my attention. If you have read any of Darrien's book then you know that the titles of her books are saying we have said or heard through out all of our lives in this series. Been There, Done That, What Goes Around Come Around, When Held Freezes Over and then Double Crossed. With these titles you know the books are good.

Damon Kilpatrick: A wealthy Philadelphia Eagle Coach who is one of the most eligible sought after bachelors in Philly. Meeting women for Damon has never been an issue the problem is keeping them. Most women he met cannot put up with his rigorous work schedule as a Coach, he has had is share of bad experience with woman who only want what they think he can do for them. Until he met Nicole Adams.

Nicole Adams is the best friend of Meridan (When Hell Freezes Over) they have been friends since college. Nicole is presently involve with Officer Deacon Miles who has been in a relationship with each other for the past 2 years.

Damon & Nicole met for the first time at a party at Keaton & Meridan house. The introduction was made by Arnelle (Keaton sister) and friend of Damon. As the night unfold Damon & Nicole end up in the same bar at the hotel that night and had a drink while they was there Nicole rec'd a phone that sent her into panic mode when she learn that her boyfriend had been shot. Seeing how upset Nicole is he went to her to comfort her once she told him she had to get back to Philly Damon made the decision to help her and not leave her alone.

Deacon had been shot and was in critical condition. Damon made arrangement for them to flight back home to Philly. Once they got to the hospital Nicole was met by Deacon partner Riley who told Nicole how Deacon was doing but he also has something else to tell Nicole but before he could the doctor came out and ask if any of Deacon Miles family was in the waiting room and then this tall woman stood up and said that she was Deacon wife. Riley tried to tell Nicole this before she found out this way but it was to late and boy when she found out she was PISSED with Deacon and Riley for keeping this lie from her. Once Damon saw how upset Nicole was he took her home. Nicole decided to break off her relationship with Deacon because one thing she can't and don't like is a liar. Once Deacon woke up the first person he ask for was Nicole and once Riley told him that Nicole knows about his wife (Lala) Deacon is upset.

Damon & Nicole begin a friendship which turns in love for them both and the fact that they have so much in common with each other but there is just one problem and his name is Deacon. Deacon has tried on several occasion to contact Nicole to explain his side of the story but at every turn Nicole is slowly removing Deacon from her heart but for Deacon Nicole will be the only one for him and he will do anything to get Nicole to see that even BLACKMAIL..............

Darrien also bring back other characters from her book that we feel in love with in the beginning. You will get to see Craig & Venice, Joshua & Cynthia, Winston & Arnelle and Keaton & Meridan. I tell there is nothing like catching up with old characters and their KIDS and I tell these kids are something else in this series. We are also introduce to other new characters like Damon brothers which I am hoping will have books of there on.

I recommend this book and all of the other as well.

Thanks
Louise

4.0 out of 5 stars What Would You Do For Love??, October 1, 2008
This review is from: Double Crossed (Paperback)
What would some of us do for L-O-V-E? Darrien Lee pens a tale of lies, deceit and betrayal all in the name of love. Damon Kilpatrick just can't find Mrs. Right. Every woman he comes across is looking for his money or what he can buy for them until he meets Nichole. BUT Nichole is in a relationship with crazy cop Deacon Miles and he is not trying to let her go. Deacon happens to get shot and THE WHOLE TRUTH comes out. Once Nichole learns of Deacon's deceit and lies, her and Damon hook up and develop a loving bond and friendship and of course DRAMA always sneaks around......

Darrien ALWAYS gives us a great story with a creative twist and I love how she always puts characters from her previous novels in the mix as well.*High Five Darrien** Excellent job!

4.0 out of 5 stars Well, I'm not sure about this one!, October 29, 2008
This review is from: Double Crossed (Paperback)
First, I have to say that I have read every one of Darrien Lee's books and I LOVE every one of them, except.....this one! I LIKED this one! Sorry! I just thought it was weak on substance and lacked real drama! The characters that I love were just to sweet and the men were too weak! Don't get me wrong, I love romance; but, something was missing in here! I don't know....It was just hard for me to get into Nichole and Damon when Damon was Arnelle's reject! Then, Damon becomes friends with Winston! Come on, Please! I guess we need to end this storyline because all of the characters from book 1 thru 5 have lived happily ever after! Let's get some new characters. Darrien, I love you and I will continue to read your books. Craig, Venice, Arnelle, Winston, Meridan and Keaton were some of my favorite characters; but, I don't think Nichole and Damon fit in their inter-cirlce.

Girl you're def. done it again! I couldn't put this book down!
We're meeting once again Damon-the football coach, remember we met him briefly back in another one of DL books (can't remember the name) and Nichole.
The story begins with Nichole getting her heart broke and Damon being right there to pick up the piece and thereafter they are inseparable. We meet up with some old friends from All That and a Bag of Chips, When Hell Freeze Over, etc. Learn how this couple is connected to the previous characters from the previous books.

But while the two of them try to get their relationship up and running, they still have one person to worry about...Nichole's ex, who doesn't understand the word `no' and `it's over'. Enjoy this book!

Successful head coach Damon Kilpatrick has been unlucky in love for quite some time and his hopes probably arent as high as they used to be, that is until he meets the lovely Nichole and finds out that true love is really out there for him.
The love and the life he aalways wanted is right within his grasp, all he has to do is bypass a psychotic ex boyfriend of Nichole who just cant seem to move on.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book and loved the story line and the fact that Ms. Lee including all of the previous characters from the novels, starting from All That and a bag of Chips

First let me say that I have been A huge Darrien Lee fan since her book 'All That and a Bag of Chips'. She has written 4 other books about these friends and now she has penned 'Double Crossed' which is the 5th and I hope not final book involving these group of friends and family. Nichole Adams is a friend of Meridan and has been involved with police officer Deacon Miles for 2 years. Damon Kilpatrick is a friend of her friends and flies home with her for support because Deacon has been shot in the line of duty. She arrives at the hospital and finds out that the man she loved and had planned to marry already has a wife that he didn't tell her about. She is devastated and Damon remains with her for support. Deacon is obsessed with her even though he plans to divorce his wife and decides if he can't have her then no one will. Lala who is Deacon's wife threatens Nichole but Nichole tells her that she didn't know he was married and is through with him. Deacon follows Nichole, calls her, puts a gps tracker in her vehicle and breaks in her home trying to get her back. He also sets up Damon and tells he her he will only make it go away if she breaks it off with him. As the drama unfolds, Deacon didn't count on his soon to be ex-wife and Nichole and Damon's friends to turn the tables on him for all the damage he has done to the couple. I could not put this book down until I finished it and it was worth it to find out how all this drama ends. Darrien has done it again another great novel and I plan to reread all the other books that lead up to this fantastic story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fan Forever, May 31, 2010
This review is from: Double Crossed (Paperback)
I have loved reading Darrien Lee's books from the beginning with All That and a Bag of Chips. It is comforting to read a book by an African American woman that doesn't imclude selling drugs, drug dealing, thugs, prostitution and explicit sexual content. I have been able to pick up her books and visualize the characters. I'm glad she picked up Double Crossed right where When Hell Freezes Over left off. I am a true fan and hopes Darrien Lee will keep her fans entertained in the years to come.
