excellent syth pop record.,

Seabound arrives like a still water that was always been there and yet never noticed. The music is quite beautiful, and the vocals/lyrics match quite nicely. In my personal opinion this is the best album by this band, though I'm shure there are a few who might debate that with me. All I can say is that the songs "The Promise", "Scortch The Eath", and "Doubleplusnogood" made me feel something on my insides. I love this record and I am quite certain that anybody who likes synth pop music will adore this album as much as I do. If you like Wolfsheim/B!Machine/Depeche Mode/Covenant/And One.....you'll like 'Double-Crossser' by Seabound. Enjoy!

Lovely,
This review is from: Double-Crosser (Audio CD)
The elements that set Seabound apart in the genre of darkwave and synthpop can probably be summed up to three factors, each of which are present in this album.
First, lyrically, there is an interesting mix of anger, love, fear, and enlightenment coming together, creating a level of depth which I generally don't see in the synthpop realm. Second, the nature of Frank Spinath's vocals is unique to the electronic scene. Not everyone finds his style to be appealing, but in his simplistic yet melodic approach, I hear a lot more sincerity than your average low-tone darkwave singer, and prefer his voice over most. Third, and most importantly to me, is the musical sequencing and production. At first listen, Seabound has always sounded on par with other musicians of the genre, but when I really began to listen closer, back when I bought Beyond Flatline, the uniqueness of their compositions opened up immensely. Like their vocals and lyrics, the music goes a little deeper than most for me. This album builds on everything the duo has done previously, and the result is an immensely beautiful and thought provoking piece of work. To the audio obsessed ear, electronic music can quickly become predictable or redundant, and this album avoids such a downfall (to my ears, at least), and feels like a step in a new direction, rather than trying to make a dance floor bestseller (even though it is quite club friendly at times). I never know about recommending music to people who don't listen to the categories that I do, but as far as the Seabound crowd goes, this is a must have, and a masterpiece.

A long awaited gem from this year,
A Kid's Review

What I love in Seabound is that they found an unique way to build up their own style, what easily distinguishable from many bands who just jumped on the ride after the pioneers, just copying them. Scrimshaw song structures, deeply detailed soundscapes, memorable vocals and melodies.
Double-crosser continued the quality and style of Beyond Flatline. Scorch the ground and Domination are my favourites from the album, and Doubleplusungood and October song from the calmer songs. The only slight disappointment is The Promise, which song was a big promise before the release. It had very good pre-views, calling it a new club-anthem-killer-hit. Its not bad, but its rather an average song for me, nothing special, powerless poppy chorus, good verses, its ok but nothing more. If you like futurepop/synthpop/electronic/ambient, you wont disappoint in this album.

Intelligent and Superb Electronic Music,

Like their brothers in crime: Covenant... this duo has a way with making electronic music an experience. It is imperative to these guys that words matter just as much as the loops, beats, and synth layering. In fact Spinath has a way with words that I've not yet encountered in this genre. He can tug on your soul a bit. Martin brings brevity with the music composition. This is a project that these boys truly care about and it shows in the dynamic they share. At a show here in San Antonio, they enjoyed meeting the fans and were often a laugh riot.
This album is rich in texture and sound. Sometimes dark, sometimes beautiful, and sometimes exalting. These songs were crafted to be played again and again, which is hard to find in the electronic scene. Not unlike DM, the music is hypnotic and stays with you. I have to make a special nod to Spinath for "Doubleplusungood"! Being a huge Eurythmics fan, the song "Doubleplusgood" from the '1984' soundtrack is one of my faves along-side "Julia". This play on a title really brings me happiness, as it is always nice to see inspiration even in the tiniest of touches. Music fans making music. Yes. Don't hesitate, seriously, this is a superb album. I recommend the 2-Disc if you can find it. Contains "The Promise" single!

Absolutely love this album. A lot of emotions in the music and vocals, very nicely layered. I can't get enough of DoublePlusUngood and Breathe.

This is a so-so album. Only 3 songs grasped my attention. Scorch The Ground, Castaway, & October Song. Other songs on this CD are pretty dull and have the same "feel" as most up to date EBM artists. This album highly lacks that true seabound "feel" that I've grown used to from previous CD's. The composure of Double-Crosser feels a bit rushed. EBM kid - buyer beware.

I wasn't impressed by this new album. Beyond Flatline was great but this album just sounds like it was thrown together at the last minute. It seems like they've also added some expirimental sounds to the album which just throws the whole thing off.

If you are new to this band, where have you been. Seabound has only disappointed me one time, that was with a sample in an earlier track that seemed totally out of place. This CD is great, typical of the artist.
