4.0 out of 5 stars It'll push all the right buttons...
Double Dare sucks you into the adventure of Lou from page one. If a sexy, fun, fast-paced love story is what you're craving, then this is the one for you. The story is a quick read, but in a good way. The author doesn't skimp on the action or the romance. The chemistry between Lou and Sam wasn't forced. It came naturally and that's always a plus in a romance...

It came naturally and that's always a plus in a romance.

My only complaints were the amount of typos. The misspelling and incorrect word usage kept tossing me out of a well-written story. 'Same' instead of 'Sam'. 'He' instead of 'her'. Those and the fact that Sam used "Aw, hell..." a little bit too much. The expression kind of lost its oomph along the way. This is why I gave Double Dare four stars instead of five.

I'd highly recommend this story if you're a fan of the steamy romance genre. It'll push all the right buttons for you. Honest.

Then there are the other mistakes that got missed, like what are other pales no man has touched? I think it should read places. The concept of the book was interesting but bad editing ruins it. Sloppy and unready books almost make me want to return to paper- at least then expecting quality isnt unreasonable.

It may be a good story. However, it is hard to know through the thousands of grammatical errors! If a story is worth telling, it should be worth telling correctly.

I'm glad it was free. I have found errors in other Kindle books but this one was by far the worst. If you're over 13 this story is a complete waste of time.

2.0 out of 5 stars Very light romance, idiotic plot, December 29, 2011

Poor little rich girl Louise does not want to disappoint Daddy so she agrees to marry Chad, for the sake of Dad's upcoming merger with Chad's mother's company.

At the beginning of the novel, Louise leaves Chad at the altar and escapes in her father's limousine. While being driven around by dad's chauffeur, she notices a travel agent, specializing in extreme travel and decides that this is the perfect way to get away from it all and realize all her life's dreams (getting drunk, smoking, and giving a cop the one-finger salute being some of her lofty ideas ).

This has to be one of the most annoying, spoiled, immature heroine in the history of romance novels. The fact that she sometimes realizes her mistakes cannot save the plot. If I were her father, I would cut her off her money and see just how she manages. Brainless as she is, that, at least, would have been an entertaining novel.

4.0 out of 5 stars Finding love while Bungie Jumping, December 12, 2011

I thought The Runaway Bride with Julia Roberts was a cute movie especially with the quirky friends and the beauty salon called Roll Up and Die - Amusing. This book does not have the quirky friends, but it is a fun afternoon diversion.

Louisa is being forced to marry a man she doesn't love in order for their family's businesses to merge. She runs away at the altar and into Sam's life. Sam organizes high action and risky adventures for clients seeking a thrill. He decides to help Louisa with her adventure request, despite his better judgment and his strong attraction to her, and immediately regrets it. While watching the news that night in Florida, Sam realizes who Louisa is and what she has done and that her overprotective, extremely wealthy father believes she has been kidnapped.

Louisa wants to enjoy her freedom from her father's demands and has a list of things she wants to accomplish while she is "missing": get drunk, smoke a cigarette, and lose her virginity. Sam has seen the list and does not want to be the one to sleep with her in order for her to cross it off her list. He wants it to be real, but he knows he has no chance with this rich, beautiful girl.

The story is predictable, but fun. Some issues I had while reading were 1) the dichotomy of Louisa's father being overprotective yet forcing her into an unwanted marriage, 2) Sam being a fine physical specimen and yet eating so many snack cakes. No guy who takes care of his body eats like that and 3) the ending where Louisa is the risk taker and not Sam - incredible.

Overall, I enjoyed the story enough to recommend it as a light predictable diversion. If you are looking for something more, this book is not for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars If You Like Your Romance Funny, You're In For A Treat, December 22, 2011
This review is from: Double Dare (Kindle Edition)
I've been meaning to pick up some of Rhonda Nelson's books at the urging of a good friend and never seem to remember once I'm at the bookstore. I was thrilled to stumble across this one as a free download while looking for something else. I don't think I'll have any more trouble remembering to look for this author's books next time I'm at the bookstore or looking for some great reads for my Kindle.

I was a little put off by the other reviews that tore this book apart because of typos, but I'm so glad I decided to go ahead and download it. It's free, so what did I have to lose? Actually, I had about three hours to lose, because once I started reading the afternoon was gone. Yes, the typos are there and they were distracting, but it's a testimony to the author's skill that the story was much more interesting than the typos were distracting.

The characters are believable, unique and wonderfully human. Some romances fall flat because the characters are two-dimensional sterotypes that I just can't identify with or even like. Nelson's heroine is a woman I would gladly sit on my front porch with, drinking sweet tea, trading embarrassing stories and laughing until we cried.

I haven't laughed out loud while reading a romance in quite a long time. This book reminded me why I started reading romances years ago. If you enjoy really good romantic comedies, you're going to love this story. Forget what the other reviews say about the typos. If your sense of humor is working, you'll really appreciate this book. I had a blast and I think I've found a new favorite author.

1.0 out of 5 stars Wanted to like it..., December 9, 2011

I thought the premise of this book looked cute, the description made me want to read it. However, as other reviewers have stated, the editing is so poor that I couldn't keep reading after only a couple of chapters! Please authors - have someone with skill/knowledge edit your books! The fact that the main characters' names were mispelled is more than a little disconcerting! Really?? I had to delete from my Kindle because I found the high number of editing errors - in just the first couple of chapters - to be too distracting to make it an enjoyable read.

I muddled my way through this book. (It is impossible for me to begin something and not finish it!) The story was just ok, but the editing was horrible! It's a good thing this book was free!

I liked the story line of the book, but there were so many errors in it that I got frustrated reading it. The errors were stupid things that were very obvious and should have been fixed.
