Varied performances, well played, rousing "Saints" version.,

This pairing of Sidney Bechet with Muggsy Spanier has varied performances, from bluesy, to boppy, to a highly spirited and uptempo, rousing, version of When The Saints Go Marchin' In, to end the recording [reference to cassette version]. The quality isn't bad (considering these were made in the middle 20th century). It would be nice if someone might reissue these recordings (originally released on Drive Archive). I hope to pick up the out of print cds. Others include: Don Byas-Tenor Giant; Woody Herman-Blowin' Up A Storm, Fats Waller's last recordings, and others. Worth a listen.

The sound is insufferable.,

This was a classic session, inspired by the success of the Django-Rex stewart Paris session, but the sound is terribly hoked up with an echo chambre. I find it intolerable.
