Varied performances, well played, rousing "Saints" version.
This pairing of Sidney Bechet with Muggsy Spanier has varied performances, from bluesy, to boppy, to a highly spirited and uptempo, rousing, version of When The Saints Go Marchin' In, to end the recording [reference to cassette version]. The quality isn't bad (considering these were made in the middle 20th century). It would be nice if someone might reissue these...

The sound is insufferable.
This was a classic session, inspired by the success of the Django-Rex stewart Paris session, but the sound is terribly hoked up with an echo chambre. I find it intolerable.

The quality isn't bad (considering these were made in the middle 20th century). It would be nice if someone might reissue these recordings (originally released on Drive Archive). I hope to pick up the out of print cds. Others include: Don Byas-Tenor Giant; Woody Herman-Blowin' Up A Storm, Fats Waller's last recordings, and others. Worth a listen.
