Well worth it for a great bunch of covers,
This review is from: Double Dose (Audio CD)
There is no orignial tracks from Great White on this 2 disc set, but it is probably the best covers cd around. The First disc is a live concert of all Led Zeppeiln material recorded in 1996. The sound is incredable! Some tracks are better than the the mighty Zep themselves. The conclussion is much of the same with cuts that cover The Cult, Bob Dylan, Badfinger, Bad Company, and much more. I love this collection because of the variety of the music and it is all done by one great band(no pun)

2-in-1 collection of previous releases,

This album titled "A Double Dose" is a 2-CD set of albums previously released by Great White. It includes the albums "Great Zeppelin" and "Recover". Both of these are available as single albums, but this is a nicely priced 2-CD set. Both albums are songs of other bands, but they rock like Great White."Great Zeppelin" is a tribute to Led Zeppelin. It contains 14 Zeppelin songs recorded live in concert, and it sounds fantastic. Great White pulls off Led Zeppelin songs better than anybody but Zeppelin themselves. The songs are great if you can ignore Jack's silly ramblings between songs. Track list: In the Light, Living Loving Maid, Ramble On, Since I've Been Loving You, No Quarter, Tangerine, Going to California, Thank You, D'yer Mak'er, All My Love, Immigrant Song, When the Levee Breaks, The Rover, Stairway to Heaven. "Recover" is a collection of cover songs that Great White had recorded over the years for B-sides and such. Another quality album, but a wider variety than "Great Zeppelin". This one features tunes from AC/DC, Bob Dylan, The Cult, Rolling Stones, and Bad Company. Track list: Love Removal Machine, Again and Again, Ready For Love, Bitches and Other Women (a medley featuring "Bitch" and "Women"), Tangled Up in Blue, Burning House of Love, Ain't No Way to Treat a Lady, Sin City, No Matter What, Fire and Water, Down at the Doctor, Lady Love. All in all, 2 full discs of quality rock at a good price.

Good songs, bad package.,

Great White is a great rock n'roll band and their covers of Zep and others ARE worth checking out, but these tracks are available on two seperate discs already making this release needless, as well as in bad taste with the cover (which Amazon says is not an available image), and questionable. The band, and those who lost their lives in Rhode Island deserve better. There are other questionable releases the band is fighting against, so check out their official website before purchasing anything.

For the "Burning Shark" idiot,

This review is from: Double Dose (Audio CD)
The music here is classic Great White, as only Great White has the balls (or the talent) to cover the majority of these songs, without a straggling member of Led Zep present. Nothing more to say; here, the music does all the talking. As for the cover art, it is a classic play on Led Zeppelin I, where the Hindenburg is seen striking the aerial tower, igniting into a ball of flame. Since this is Great White covering Led Zeppelin, it is a clear mixture of a great white shark, combusting the same as the lead zeppelin aircraft did... idiot! Study your history, and your classic albums.

Not A Bad Collection,

In a previous review of this album, a reviewer claimed the album cover features a burning shark. That is bollocks. I have the cd, and the cover isn't anything special. Just a shark in the water. The music is great. They did a good tribute to Zeppelin as well as many other bands on the second disc. This is essentially two Great White releases packaged together. The first being Great White's live tribute to Zeppelin titled "Great Zeppelin". The second disc is their covers cd called "Recover". For the price, you can't beat it.

Disc one is Amazing !,

Disc one gets the led out in a big way even though such classics as Black Dog, The Ocean, Misty Mountain Hop and Rock N' Roll are missing. Even though those tracks aren't here, I still can't get enough of this Zeppelin tribute from a great band in their own right. Basically, disc one is amazing.Disc two, I could have gone forever and never missed hearing this. The song selection is odd and the band doesn't seem to be putting their own signature on any of these tracks. That approach is fine if you're covering Led Zeppelin. But, when you are determined to bring to light an entire batch of material that isn't as strong as what is found on disc one, then it really disappoints.

Statement Regarding New Release From Cleopatra/Deadline Reco,
By A Customer
This review is from: Double Dose (Audio CD)
Statement Regarding New Release From Cleopatra/Deadline Records Called Double DosePosted April 28, 2004 on www.mistabone.com Today we were horrified to discover that once again another record company has attempted to profit on the horrible tragedy of February 20th , 2003. Deadline / Cleopatra Records has planned to release a double record called Double Dose on May 11th with a burning shark on the cover. This is a reprehensible and deplorable act for the sole purpose of financial gain. Great White is disgusted by the cover, and certainly did not approve it or the album's release. This practice of repackaging for profit will not be tolerated. The disgusting and vile album cover is a disgrace. We are demanding the immediate cancellation of this release and are taking all legal avenues available to stop it. We are contacting Navarre distribution as well as Deadline Records today.

Great Band But The Record Label Has Poor Taste...,

The cover of this CD features a burning shark. Someone in the marketing department at Deadline/Cleopatra Records obviously had his head up his ass to even think that this was even remotely funny. Considering the tragic fire that happened Feb. 20th, 2003 when Great White was playing a gig in Rhode Island, and the fact that PEOPLE DIED in it makes this shameless attempt to cash in on other's misfortune even sicker. I personally will never buy anything that has the Deadline or Cleopatra labels on it.
