Convict Tyrell Stants is a master of words and manipulation. He knows just what to say, when to say it, and how to say it. Tyrell has pen pals all over the country varying by race, age, and sex. Collect calls, food, clothes, money..whatever Tyrell wants, one of his pen pals is more than happy to provide.

After eight long years, Tyrell is about to reclaim his freedom, His pen pals are ecstatic, but Tyrell has other plans; plans that don't involve them but does involve their money.
You can only do so much wrong before it catches up to you. Will Tyrell get away with his con or end up conned?

Double Dose gives readers a double dose helping of drama and action. There was a nice build up, good character development and interesting sub-plots. The only draw back was the author alluded to things that were going to happen a little bit too much for me. I would have rather those situations played out without being warned in advance. All in all, Melvin Robertson has produced a promising debut and I look forward to the next dose.

4.5 stars

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow- this book was off the chain!!!, August 6, 2006

Very well written. This author was very creative. That Tyrell was something else. Anyone may have fallen in his trap but I am sorry I couldn't have been giving up my money like that. I felt so bad for Angela. She truly believed in him and she was just looking for something that she was not getting at home but I am glad that she woke up when she did...too bad it was too late. Kevin almost had him but Tyrell was too slick with it. Poor Barry he just kept going along for the ride but I must say that he truly got his revenge in the end...I wonder how he kept "it" reserved??? Regardless of what Heidi had arranged, Tyrell already had that coming. Tyrell had something coming to him from every direction...that goes to show that what goes around truly comes back around!

5.0 out of 5 stars ADDICTED TO THE LAST DOSE!, March 28, 2006
This review is from: Double Dose (Paperback)
This book is about Tyrell Stants; who is a con man who attracts both men and women. He is fine, charasmatic and intelligent; with a seducing spirit that hooks once they look. His love is hypnotic! They want to stop but find themselves needing another dose of his love potion & paying more than they intended to spend. He gets his hearts desires from them all, in exchange for the promise of companionship-a promise he has no intention of keeping. Find out if Tyrell gets a dose of his own medicine??

This book exposes the game that inmates play with lonely hearts. It is definately a must read & a real page turner! I was intrigued and in amazement--but this real crime is happening every day, all around the country.

Happy reading!

This review is from: Double Dose (Paperback)
this was sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good! Tyrell is a guy who is in prison for a crime he did not do. His main goal is to get money and use people for it. While he is in jail he has pen pals, two guys and a woman. He gets money, food and clotyhes from them, b/c/ they think he cares about them. But, Tyrell is FAR from gay. HE cares about noone, only his siter.

Angela is married, but isn't happy. She writes Tyrell and falls in love. Her husband has millions.

Kevin loves Tyrell, and wants to marry him

Kevin loves Tyrell, and loves him as well.

Heidi, Tyrell's parol officer likes him, they soon have a relationship, until her daughter sleeps with him.

So many twists and turns.

Tyrell ends up gettin what comes to him, but the two people who does it is amazing!!!

HOT READ:-)

5.0 out of 5 stars A unique villain, May 1, 2007

This review is from: Double Dose (Paperback)
Usually the hero of a novel is a man or woman with exemplary qualities, someone the reader wants to root for. Not true with Double Dose. Tyrell Stants is a remarkable villain whose words, charm, body and determination get him sex and money from the pen pals he had while in prison and some others he meets on the outside. Now, out on parole, Tyrell is bad incarnate. He cons just about everyone and has no remorse, a truly amoral creature. I found myself shaking my head and smiling as to how he did it. The main characters are wonderfully drawn and the action is fast-paced and suspenseful. Hope there's a sequel.
