4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad, good challenge, slow game
This is a classic brawling game, simply because it takes a step away from the original NES game and recreates the arcade game perfectly! From the challenge of having to brawl your way through four levels against members of the Shadow gang. Its a very good game, as the more points you earn through doing various karate moves you learn new manuvers to beat up the bad guys...

3.0 out of 5 stars For Fans of the Series
Double Dragon for the gameboy is not a bad game. It is though somewhat repetitive (something that haunts most beat em ups) and short. With only four levels you can blast through this in 30 minutes. The thing is though it is slightly fun and fans of this series will like this. More or less its a simplified version of the NES game which is also not a bad thing. I know this...

Its a very good game, as the more points you earn through doing various karate moves you learn new manuvers to beat up the bad guys. Another nice touch for this game is the 1 on 1 battle mode, which features a choice to play as one of 6 bad guys from the game, big and massive with full detail; brawling 1 on 1.

I know this review sounds a little negative but I did like this game. Otherwise if you do not like Double Dragon or side scrolling beat 'em ups you will not really like this any way. It's short, simple and fun.

4.0 out of 5 stars why DD kicks ..., May 18, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Double Dragon (Game Cartridge)
I fondly remember the good old days - before playstation that is - and DD was the best fighting game around by far. I also remember it as the first game I was ever able to finish. Its 1 fault was finishing up after the girl was rescued - that was it. The moves were so cool - jump-kicking and elbowing - my favourite manoeuvre was to elbow someone and keep kicking them until they died. Some of the bigger opponents could ONLY be hit by elbowing them I found - like the green karate guy and the big gorilla-types and of course the machine-gun guy at the end. Sometimes in 2 player mode I would attack my buddy just for kicks - no pun intended ! So if anyone still has this one or its sequels - it's a gem from the old days.
