A true test to see who is the best sports gamer,

If you and your friends are having an argument over who is the best sports gamer, then look no further than any old NES Konami game. Konami was one of the best producers of sports games back in the late 80's early 90's before EA Sports, Sega Sports, and 989 Sports. With those new companies, you can get all the cheats for the games and supe up your teams to be unbeatable. That's not the case with old Konami games. Take Double Dribble for example. It is in my opinion the best Basketball video game of all time. Sure there are only 4 teams, but they are all equal in stature and prominence. Choose from the Frogs, Falcons, Wave, or Bulls, and it won't matter who you play against because there are no '96 Bulls vs. '01 Bulls that create a complete mismatch. The game play is very responsive, and it's easy to get the hang of it. I love how realistic this game is because your players DO NOT make every single shot like it's NBA Jam or anything. You have to work to get open and shoot intelligent shots (No behind the back 3-pointers). Now some people may not like the graphics just because it's old, but who cares about graphics when you're playing a fun game. There's not much to a basketball video game than a court, 2 baskets, 10 players, and a ball. You don't need rendered facial expressions or a realistic crowd and arena. All you need is an old NES, two controllers with two buttons, a trash-talking friend, and a copy of Double Dribble. After stripping away all of today's video game bells and whistles, you can finally play at the exact same level, and only then will you and your friend know who is the better sports gamer. ...The old slam dunk video sequences are awesome to watch.

Not your everyday Hoop game,

This was the original hoop game that got it all started in my opinion. Graphics were less than desirable. Gameplay is exceptional. The programming was such that the game almost seems to WANT to win and when you have simulated dunks going towards the basket it is almost for entertainment value only.
